+1

OP is saying "I'm bored and frustrated", OK well playing better opponents will make you feel a whole lot better then, right?

This post (which is linked in the FAQ) doesn't use the term "Kelly Criterion", but that's what it means when it talks of "comfort factor": http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...1&postcount=10

And still bored and frustrated, eh? So it seems that 100% RB isn't a magic bullet to cure all poker ills.

Re: can I play with less br

The way I used to do it was to treat the excess above 20bi as "shot taking money". Actually, I waited for 30bi, but you get the idea.

I think it's really good to not knuckle down at your current level too strictly. Expand your skills by playing a bit higher when you're feeling good and have the bankroll. Drop down a level for some easy pickings maybe when you've lost a few buyins. Stay flexible.

[Strictly, though, the Risk of Ruin calculation assumes that you NEVER move up (or down). It doesn't really matter because nobody is too concerned with a 5% vs 7% risk-of-ruin, and these calculations have a huge accuracy problem with sample size anyway... but strictly, if you take shots when your bankroll increases, you increase your risk of ruin. If you move down when your bankroll drops, you decrease your risk of ruin.]

[also note: 20bi is a pretty aggressive bankroll number. It evolved as a recommendation for microstakes beginners a long time ago when edges were huge, and a microstakes amateur can move up and down very freely. It's not a good recommendation for a pro at 100nl+, imo, where you can absolutely expect a -20bi downswing, and dropping a couple levels to rebuild might not be a logical option.]
