Just pulled all of my money (except for 20) off of all sites (need it for my cross-country move in a few weeks).

So, these next months I will be grinding up from 20 bucks and plan on trying to repeat the success of many others who have built a br from almost nothing.

Making this thread so I can occasionally update with graphs/etc. to show progress, and also to invite others to start the challenge with me.

I started with $20 and after about a week I'm up to $82.26. There are enough donks in 10NL on Bodog that even though my play is not that great I am still a winning player (at least for 3K hands).

That thread was actually pretty inspiring, in fact it probably helps to set a time-goal, too.

Since haven't played more than 10k hands per week before(and don't know how many hands of super-micro I'll be able to take before wanting to slit my throat), I'm going to give myself a 1k BR goal in 30 days.

Go set mine at NL2 FR for your first $30 or so.

How did you make the money you pulled out?

From tilt, it was from a couple hundred left from my initial deposit bonus (I withdrew some $ before xmas) a few hundred of add'l bonus cleared in the last month, rakeback (another 119), and maybe 100ish that I'd won since Dec.

On Stars, I went on wild monkey-tilt early december and donked off a few hundred of winnings, and then pulled out the whole dang tamale- swearing off online poker forever- while pocketing the 800 or so I salvaged for xmas spending. Ok, so the online poker ban lasted about 2 weeks, then I deposited some more, won a couple hundred, and then now have pulled it all back with the exception of 20.

Still have the like/hate relationship with online poker going on, and feel more at home live. But my live poker days are coming to an end, all too soon.

I started with $5.00 and have taken it up to mid-stakes NL. Some players have taken $20-40 all the way to high stakes, 5-figure buy-ins. You guys with small starting bankrolls can absolutely go as far up the ladder as you want, with time & effort.

ok, I just closed for the night. This is the 200ish hands from yesterday, and the rest are today.

The last hand I flopped a set, got my money in (it became a 5-way all in), and lost to a flush.

good luck.... nate's stuff is inspiring.... it's definitely possible, and on some sites the omaha/7cs/exotic freerolls are so soft that you can just sign up and sometimes make a buck literally not playing one hand and if not that easy you can make the $0.75-$1.00 from one good pot and then abandoning the game, but obviously leaving the game on

to pne of the other guys who's working his way up, i think 50 buy-ins is huge overkill. maybe the absolute micros are different but frankly i find the games moderately-high profitable but pretty low variance (basically little action and win alot of small to medium pots). but maybe that's just my narrow poker universe.

omg you guys are really inspiring, and I trust these stories are true 'cause since i started posting on 2+2 I have met serious players. So my question is this, how are people moving 25$ up to 200-300$$ in a matter of weeks? I have been using PT for the first time this month and I am down 50$ after 2500 hands. I don't get to play that much and only play one maybe two 6 max at atime. I am really concentrating on getting my VPIP down to the 12-18% range but I just need to know how you guys do it! thanks....DocARH

ps are you multitabling and playing like rocks, Tight agressive or do you play small ball?? seeing lots of flops, obviously I know the situation depends, but generally speaking.................

GL Gina, be interesting to see how you are doing a week or 2 from now, not because of your skill but on how long until you get bored and play bigger then you should with your BR, since from the beginners games you admitted to get bored easy at low stakes

I wish I could add to the inspiring stories but not so much, ive only deposited 50$ once and never reloaded but never really settled into a single game. Started off playing cash and sngs when I was just started playing and managed to win a 4/180, after that I ground up primarly off sngs and some cash games then stopped playing with a few hundred in my account. Six months later I started playing again and couple months later FT'd a 3$ rebuy, played above what I should of with the winnings and lost most of that, since then ive jumped around alot trying out limit and more NL cash in which ive been pretty much breakeven though I still build off SNgs which I am trying to force myself to stick with to build my roll.

$40 to $500 since August for me. I suggest playing very nitty to start out playing no more than 4 tables. Watch others play and work on reading opponents and putting them on hands. Once you get a little better and more confident you can start opening up your range a bit, and playing more aggressively.

At least that's the path I took.

i read that annette, that superstar teenage swedish online tournament women, build up from free-rolls to winning a million dollars in a tournament.... article wasn't completely clear as to whether someone funded her at some point, but it read more like she went from free-rolls to superstar with no funding in-between. definitely went from zero to probably making decent money from it.

yeah well, the desire to shortstack a 100nL game only crosses my mind like, every 20th hand, so I guess I'm doing ok. Actually, knowing that I've committed to posting my results here has made me (relatively) behave.

Forgot about having a few thou FPPs in my account, so I just got done playing 6 of those 70 fpp tournaments for the Sunday 100k tournament. After coming in 2nd in 3 of them, I managed to win one. So now I've got 11 tournament dollars I can play with as well. (I was going to wait until I'd reached 50 dollars grinding the cash game before I touched a tourney or sit and go, but now I don't have to).

So, current balance in account:

you are overrolled and overskilled for .10 and still havn't moved up, don't feel hesitatnt to move up, the play is hardly different and you have more than enough buy ins to run into some variance and weather the storm
