What's the ideal number of mtts played PER DAY to manage the swings. 10? 20?

I'm playing 888,
Just managed to turn $0.5 satellite to win 2nd place in $30 satellite (its for $215 tourney), for $197.50 huge score for me, I'm relieved for the last week 5 days consecutively downswing

I dont think you are managing poker ith the correct mindset regarding variance, mtts have a huge variance and the swings dont depend directly on how much tournaments you play each day, of course the more you play the lessvariance you should face, but playing poker over a set number of tournaments you HAVE to play each day will afect you more than the game itself imo.

dont force yourself to play a set number of games

Question 1: how many players to start?

Question 2: how many per table?

Question 3: starting stack.

Question 4: sb/bb/ante size

then we can talk about the effects of these factors.

Field size has a huge effect on the swings you'll face. Some players that only enter the big events (1000+ entrants) grind several hundred games a month and still have "interminable" downswings, before their luck turns around.

I'm figuring out to depend on grinding mtts for my living. For your info, even micros in usd convert to my home currency is pretty decent money

Usually I play less than 500 entrants field, blind on average 10 mins. I don't have HUD and only rely on sharkscopes to observe my status

Check out the Tournament Variance Calculator at http://pokerdope.com/tournament-variance-calculator/

I tried running a sim for the following set-up:
500 players, 13% get paid, $1 BI with 10% rake, expected ROI of 10%, simulation size: 500 games.

And it produced this graph to show the results of 20 random players with that expected ROI:

Each player has an expectation of $50 profit over the sample, but as you can see, a few make over $300 and quite a lot (40% of simulated players) actually lose money. To emphasise, if you have a 10% ROI in 500-man tourneys, you have a 40% chance of losing money in your next 500 games. That's why you need to play such high volume. The more you play, the greater your chance of getting one of the rare big scores that cancels out all the losing sessions. If you have a bigger skill edge (resulting in a higher EV), the downswings won't be so brutal. #variance

I would say 20-30 MTT's daily is the general range. Obviously this will fluctuate with your roll, and how deep you go.
