Beginner poker room + Bank roll Management

Hi, I just joined this forum

I'm pretty much new to the world of poker and I have a couple of questions. I played some cash games, but as there isn't a real end to them they kind of bore me, so I want to focus on low limit Sit and Go's where my results are better too.

My question is: Should I play on Pokerstars, as it's known for solid players grinding the lower limits but has a lot of tournament offerings or better another poker room? I currently have some money on 888 poker, but I think it's tournament offerings are a little limited. And my other question: If I start with $50 bankroll, at what stakes should I play in the beginning to correct for variance?

If I have that clear I can start playing, analysing hands and improve my game. I currently am reading books from Sklansky and Harrington that I think are helping me.

Re: Beginner poker room + Bank roll Management

ideally u wanna do the $1 sng's as 50 BI's should be a good cushion tho if ur looking at MTT think you may wanna triple that for stars as the fields are massive....

Another room could be pkr, its a pretty niffty site i won plenty on there at the $5 level (2.5k last month) fields rarely get over 400 and top place tends to be between 200 - 600 so its a decent chunk

Thanks for your help. I 've never heard of pkr before, but I see it gets some pretty good reviews. Might give it a try.

50 B.I. was also a bit what I was thinking about. Quite conservative, but a good way to learn the game without going bankrupt.

Re: Beginner poker room + Bank roll Management

I just started as well and enjoy Aced.com's 2.00 (2.20 with rake) 9 player SNG room (Dolphin room), some regs many fish. I have a $100 bankroll though so you might want to find a $1 room if you can.

on an aside I agree with you on the no ending cash game. I think I enjoy the "story" of a SNG, lol.
