I am pretty much a beginner, currently trying too improve my game . I play mainly micro tourneys on PS and a small UK based site, I play the same format tourneys all the time so that I can attempt to monitor my progress.

Slowly but surely its starting to make sense and what I'm reading is slowly starting too sink in, I'm finishing in the money more times and have even had a couple of final tables.

I set my goal for the year to win the tourney I play on the UK site as its a smaller field with a lot of good regs, I managed to final table it a couple of weeks back, but blew it lol then last week I cashed and had several deep runs finally winning it last Friday (at long last), om Stars the fields massive and I'm also learning to negotiate that and the longer open periods where other players can still join game late, it took a massive adjustment to playing on stars but again slowly but surely the results are coming, few cashes, albeit small ones but for me they been massive and its good too see a little progress, yesterday I managed 21 place in a Big 1.10 game, I managed to get into second place with only 70 players left, but had to go out to collect my daughter from school, which took 3/4hr it cost me a lot of chips blinding away but I was real pleased to get my highest finish to date, not even the small prize took the shine off it, hell its a couple more free tourneys at the very least, its the progress that's the real reward

now I'm aware Ive more leaks than a teabag, but I'm sure my understanding is increasing and there is a progress being made (fingers crossed cos I been here before with poker lol) Ive tried poker tracker and Hold em manager but wasted the opportunity by taking both trials at once and failing to explore either properly, however I will eventually purchase one or the other too utilise.

My next steps are too continue my push toward more late finishes, final table play and also a work on heads up game as well, so the goals more or less the same concentrate on the same formats and try to improve firsther and maybe get the win on stars format I play, now that would be something due to the larger field

The area I would most like help with is sourcing some quality basic poker math material, its something that's covered in the basic level books am reading at [resent but its a section I continually avoid over indulging it,

this is mainly due to the fact I'm dreadful at maths spent my whole life hiding from it, even the basics I learned at school are a blur (I'm in my 40's), later in life it nearly cost me a place at uni, as basic math was a requirement, even though the course was social work, the tutor who took me through my basic math felt that sorry he cheated the test for me as otherwise Id of not gained entry

Spent all my life hiding and avoiding anything that a calculator cant handle, been fine right up until this game got stuck in my head, Ive stil kept trying to avoid as I've struggled enough with the basics of the game for long enough lol

so basically what I'm after is good quality basic information that will suit my very low level, any article's links videos or books all suggestions welcome and appreciated, thanks for taking the time to read and good luck too you all

Luck? A good poker player does not rely on luck. Poker is a skill game that relies on math skillz......oh wait......

I'm not a good poker player yet, but odd bit of luck has got me this far on the journey I guess, but this will definitely help me on my way off relying on it, but all said a bit good luck never hurt whether its in life or on the felt or virtual felt and thanks again KS
