I know this could vary wildly for some people more than others, I'm just curious in seeing the progress of others.

For cash games:
2NL: 20k hands and profit of $70ish
5NL: at 10k hands, profit of $20ish

SNGs:
about 300 games at $1 stakes, slightly above profit, I find variance really brutal in these.

I'm also wondering how many tables do you guys play and how many hands per day.
When I was at 2NL, I only played around 2-3 tables, so that 20k hands took quite a while to accomplish.
Currently at 5NL, I'm doing about 5-6 tables, and play about 700-1k hands a day.

enough for you to have enough bankroll for the next stake, the amount of buy ins you feel most comfortable playing in. Of course if you're winrate is 1bb/100 it might take 1mil hands, while if it's 10bb/100 it might only take 10k hands.

Take shots every so often to determine your skill level ~

2NL 60k
5NL 45k
10NL 17.5k

I know those figures are wierd but during my stint in 10NL I won at about 4-5BB/100 and then had a really decent winrate in $5.50 6-max SNG's so reached 50BI for 25NL very quickly!
Starting 25NL on Monday. Hopefully my poker profits will rise exponentially.

Would most people agree the hardest jump at feasible "normal people" stakes (i.e 400nl and below) would be from 10-25?

Is the play that better? More regs, less idiots just screwing around?

i would figure so, 25 NL is where the rake doesn't hurt as much :P

as people in the thread have said, play to have enough for the next stake and move up until you reach the stake you want to play or feel most comfortable at

at first i played maybe 10k hands or so at 2nl won maybe $20 or something but i started from 90cents from freerolls and made $70 in sng's and moved to 5nl at $90 or so, played about 45k hands or so of 5nl then moved to 10nl and got murdered, after 400k+ hands im still at 5nl

but yea the goal is just to play good poker and move up as your rolled for the next limit

10nl>25nl... i havent played much 25nl but it felt like 10nl, the regs were either too nitty or bluffed in bad spots, i feel 25nl will be even easier for me get a higher winrate just due to the fact theres less nits but until ima 25nl i cant say for sure huh...

For $1 STT's I played 304 for a $57.30 profit, which was enough to move up to $3.40's.

I played Limit cash games a while, and .02/.04 was soft enough to move up in about 2500 hands if you don't hit hit by massive variance, the games are heavily soft.
