Limit is ridiculously boring. It's still played in a lot of places. In my casino, old ladies usually make up the bulk of the people playing limit.

There's a lot less BS in limit. I might try switching to it but I think the game is probably too closed to solve to play at a high level? I think computers can play limit pretty well.

If it were more popular and common in live venues them I'd make the switch just for the variation

Honestly, everything you learned about poker came from a TV presenter. Any game you don't understand is boring, for the most part. So by saying " ridiculously boring" you're saying "I'm terribly ignorant". Yes, the game where your VP$IP as an expert is 10% to 20% higher is the more boring of the two games. The game where you make decisions on 4 streets has a lot less happening, compared to shallow NL where the hand is over preflop or on the flop (especially tournaments).

I'll admit to not knowing a lot about NL. Thus, I find the 15-20 hands an hour at a live table to be tedious. You know, the hoody guy and the tank folding bores me. Come on, someone two tables over knows you're never calling that. Oh, we all wait another 5 minutes because it was a big decision? Another fun staredown? Wow, great poker. My friend the HS NL expert says there's actually a lot going on, and I'm just missing it. Admittedly, he's the expert and I take his word for it. He's also a great LHE player, but plays NL because his hourly is higher. He enjoys both games for different reasons.

You are confirmed playing the currently most popular game. TV told you to play it, and you are. Well done. If you played 10 games well and said "Game X is the most boring" your opinion would have value. (Baduci, btw).

i dont understand anyway why the noobie players who love to limp insist on playing No Limit, where they rarely ever get the odds to draw that they would need

As long as we're shallow and 6 others of us limp with you, it can work for a while.

For god sake try PLO instead if you are bored of NLHE

Online, fixed limit games are dying, but if you enjoy them, then don't let the naysayers put you off.

It matters what your future plans are. If you just want to play games you like, they'll always be there. +1 to Arty's "do what makes you happy". If you have hopes of playing for profit, especially decent amounts of it, you'd be nuts to pick LHE at this point as on online player. Live, if you live in the right places it still could be the best game.

At some point in a game, the lack of profitability probably drives a good # of the serious players away. Thus, it is possible that the games are actually getting softer. That said, it is going to be hard to find volume. It is like being an expert Stud/8 player, where any game you find could be very good. Don't bet your house payment on playing a lot of hours, though.

Agree with DougL, sorry jesse but even if limit is a dying game your ignorance of that style of holdem is still pretty lol and uneducated.

Limit holdem is a lot of things but its a high skill game that is anything but 'ridiculously boring' unless all you crave is that one big hand where you get the sweat to win/lose it all

And yes ive played limit holdem a little bit

Good on you. How do you find the games?

Yea, LHE is more of an action game than NL. Some people appreciate that aspect of it.

Especially HUHU LHE is a very high octane game, but it may be hard to see that it is before you tried, I dunno. Personally, I find NL about as exciting as watching paint dry.

On the downside, compared to a few years ago the games aren't as good and the rake is high in relation to the win rates.

I'll stop generalising about LHE if the LHE players stop generalising about the players that don't like it. Some double standards in this thread

Live play of either Limit or NoLimit will get boring at times for the exact same reason. Havent played much Limit since I very first started playing online poker, about 4yrs ago. Stuck with it for a while when I was learning poker, but NL left more an impression on me when I first tried it & I never went back.

NLHE is also much more likely to attract fish, & perhaps even enable a reg to exploit such fish IMO

No, LHE is fun. The point is, people are ignorant and they tried to compare .25/.5 LHE to .25/.5 NLHE and thought it was boring while .25/.5 NLHE is more like 2/4 LHE in terms of wins and losses.

It's absolutely trivial what people on 2+2 think about it, barring completely objective judgements such as the rake being so high that it's impossible to be +EV. What matters is whether you enjoy playing the game, assuming it's not causing you problems to do so. It's like asking whether it's OK to go for girls in glasses, who phucking cares? Do what you feel.

lol. You said paint drying and didn't expect anyone to give you a hard time? #thinskinned

Before the boom I used to play at Bellagio with a bunch of English guys used to playing Pot Limit. Super nice guys. Terrible limit players. If you're from London I have warm feelings for you.

A card player well versed in the fundamentals of pot odds will be a winning player in both limit and no limit. A mediocre player may be good at one and bad at the other (and find that specific game "boring")

Meh, I was kinda playing devils advocate & being sarcastic. I'm a pain in the ass like that, Doug

Played LHE as a true beginner, & my opinion on almost every poker concept has changed since then so, in truth, I really cant give an opinion on the game

I assume Limit is the hardest game to beat high stakes at, for several reasons, but I could be wrong. Similarly I would have thought PLO would be the best bet to rise through the stakes at, because its by far the least discovered

Play the game you enjoy because you're more likely to excel at it. Plenty of people think all poker is boring...but, c'mon, no1 cares what those people think

I thought it was common knowledge that girls in glasses is no-go?

fwiw, I doubt understanding pot odds is enough to beat even the lowest levels in LHE (or NL).
