ACR SNG 2.0's stun your growth? ACR SNG 2.0's stun your growth?

Let me know what you guys think. I'm pretty new to poker and I am serious about studying and growing as a poker player. I have mainly been playing the SNG 2.0's on ACR. Made a couple hundred bucks playing them so far. They've been a nice way to get the BR off the ground. These games are so soft and really teach you how to play an extremely nitty poker style. So my question, playing these as my main game as a noob, are they stunting my growth as a poker player? Should I just play them every once in awhile and focus more on 6-max NL? My main goal is learning and growing as poker player.

What's up?

I have a couple points to touch on here.

If you're making money and it sounds like you are, keep it up man! That's something to be proud of. Not many people can consistently beat any form of poker.

There's a lot of variance in there since the blinds go up at a fast rate and prize pool can only be top two. This means that as your volume increases your win rate will likely decline. This doesn't mean you'll be a losing player, but you should be prepared for a downswing.

As far as studying goes, if you're making money at these already, I would go for some push/fold charts depending on blinds and position. Of course you can look into ICM, but these games will stray from standard ICM since there's so much variation with prizes and places paid.

I think you can study regular speed 6/9max SNGs to improve in both regular and 2.0s. if you're winning though, I wouldn't stop playing all together and switch to cash games unless you think your edge is greater in that area.

There's a lot of pros like Tom dwan who started out playing SNGs and then switched over to cash, so there's no rush to hop into a game that may be less profitable.

How many of these 2.0s have you played? How many have you cashed and in what places? These will help others give you better feedback. Good luck out there!

If you want to be a well-rounded player, then learning deep-stacked cash (100bb+) would be the best method, but switching from tourneys/SNGs to cash can be very difficult and frustrating, which means it could be a costly education for you. It's usually easier for players to go in the opposite direction. If you're not particularly motivated by money, you can play both, of course. Specialists tend to make more money if they focus on beating a particular format, but playing a few types of games can prevent burnout.

99 played, 44.44 ITM, 29.05 ROI, 16 1st, 21 2nd, 7 3rd. Of course sometimes these pay all the way up to 9th place.

Are you sure about those stats? I use PT4 and grinded the SnG2.0's and there must be something with the text formatting (I no nothing about how histories need to be recorded) but it doesn't calculate my win rate, ITM, etc correctly. The only thing I found correct was the places finished (which means very little when 2-9 people get paid). I hit a jackpot for over 400.00 and it wasnt calculated, which got me to looking at other things like prize payout distribution, I think PT4 reads it as the standard payout for 1-3, take a look for yourself and test it out. It may impact how you think you've done, IE a lot of 4th place finishes which PT4 thinks you made nothing, but in reality the top 4 got paid.

You have to edit the tournament and enter the pay structure. It's a pain but I do it for every tourney I cash in.

Yeah SNG 2.0 is pretty soft. Now the cash game tables are a different story.
