Acceptible BI downswang?

How many buy ins in a day lost would you consider the difference between being a standard case of variance over 2k hands or a case of needing to change how you play the game?

7 buy ins down over 2k hands atm most hands i have been ahead when the money gets in the pot the rest have been flips and i can only count 2 hands i was behind in pair vs pair.

Just after some sort of yardstick to see if i need to put in a stop loss or if i need to just play my game and wait for the turnaround.

winnings/EV graph? if you're getting it in good there's not much you can do, you can't change how the cards fall. you just have to handle the variance (good bankroll management, don't tilt just because you're running bad). take a break if it's stopping you from playing to the best of your ability

Re: Acceptible BI downswing?

If you put a stoploss in, you'll never have the JOY of grinding back to finish up $0.12 for the day.

7BI down session at FR 2000 hands seems entirely doable. Typical swings of 20BI over extended periods (30K+) seems so standard it barely makes a page 12 headline in small stakes FR forum.

Grind through, OX

Re: Acceptible BI downswing?

Ive been through a 5 BI downswing in a day but my head started to hurt so I stopped. I have been through a 20BI downswing over a month or so, just as long as you are nitty with BR and play lower and lower - your better play will see you through. I stress if a buyin becomes > ~2% of my roll.

Re: Acceptible BI downswang?

Defo can happen in one session, we've all been there.

Just make sure u review ur sessions properly and identify where the losses happen and if there was anything u could have done differently to avoid it, ie reads, villain's ranges that kinda thing. I often think at the time 'oh thats just unlucky' but when u review it back in slow time its so clear I coulda got away.

Gl climbing out :-)
