I don't play 6-max, but I would say
almost never would be better. Especially in the micros, a table can suprise you. On the same day recently I played two different SNG at the same $$ level:
1. A bunch of maniacs, betting, raising, and reraising with nothing. I was getting horrible cards, stayed out of the way, and made it to the money seeing 6 of 73 flops.
2. A limpfest with very few preflop raises or folds in the first two levels. With 22 I limped preflop UTG and got five callers.
In a scenario like that, it would be criminal
not to limp with any decent speculative hand.
