3 Betting live

This is more of a live game question where we don't have hud stats on our villains. But lets assume its a 200nl game. What type of hands should I be 3 betting with IP and OP? Also, should I even worry about polarizing my range at these games?

Re: 3 Betting live

Another thing is i usually get a lot of flat calls when I 3 bet so should I be widening my 3 bet range? Also, in general how should i react to a 3 bet?

Used effectively it's a great move. Mostly to get a better read is why I do it but here is my theory. OOP are premium hands 1010+ AK & maybe AQ. IP it's a much much wider range. Same premium hands but I throw 67s, 78s, 89s in there and I am still trying to work on double gappers suited. This being said, I consider my self at being better then avg at reading people. I read on here once that 3 betting KQ, KJ, QJ is pointless cuz if called u are pry dominated. I proved this true once, I was pissed.

Re: 3 Betting live

if you get a lot of calls when you 3bet - 3bet higher. instead of someone opening for 5bb and you 3betting to 15, open to like 20-25 instead to compound their mistake.

Re: 3 Betting live

if they call a lot, depolarise and widen your 3bet for value range. if they fold a lot, polarise and narrow your 3bet for value range by calling instead.

Re: 3 Betting live

This is completely villain dependent.

1. Most 1/2 Vils only 3 bet JJ+,AK. So when facing a 3 bet strongly consider folding. The exception is if you're real deep and can set mine for stacks (or some other IO situation).

2. Most 1/2 Vils call 3 bets way too light, so you can open up the value range. The inverse of this is shutting down the bottom end of your 3 bet range. They generally play straight forward and badly post flop in 3bet situations so it can be very profitable. They will always put you on AK.

Most important is to know your players. If they're weak tight, 3 bet them to death and cbet. If they're loose passive, 3 bet for value.
