Why are there no skill games sites? Why are there no skill games sites?

What I mean is what usually is referred too as skill games on the internet:
Backgammon, gin rummy, dominoes, etc etc.

Why are there no sites who offer these games?

Is it not lucrative enough for a site to start a site like that?

Only site i know that is like that is moneygaming.com , but they only accept customers from a few select countries.

I wonder too. Backgammon with players betting $ could attract rail birds (I mean I would rail it).

there's quite a few bg sites for $$, if you like to get destroyed that is

you will be playing either world class human players, inhumanly strong bots or the combination of the two

rake is also sky high, not that it would make any difference to you since you'll be losing much faster to your opponents than to rake

for solely BG there is:
BGroom, A site I don't trust and I think is also pretty dead these days.

I don't know of any other, because Play65, PartyGammon and Truemoneygames are all gone. So is the Jadestone network, which was last site I played online backgammon on, and did win some money.

Apart from BGroom there are two skill games sites (which kind of clashed with my initial post) as far as I know that also have backgammon.
Moneygaming which doesn't allow players from many countries, including my country.
And skill7 which only covers cashgames and not tournaments which i prefer. Well they have tournaments but with a very strange unorthodox system that isn't very good.

I do know the problem with backgammon online is potentional bot usage though. But can the same be said for maybe online Gin Rummy or Dominoes?

Still interested what BG sites are you talking about?

your information is probably more current than mine, had no idea that play65 is no more

never was interested in tournaments (unless you mean matches) so can't help you there, I only play on gamblergames these days

becasue these games have been figured out by AI and online gambling would be disastrous for humans.

Yeah , that is a big factor too.

Eventhough the games are not solved, computers plays on a very high level.

I know the strongest backgammon software beats the best players in the world.
I don't know about strong software in Gin or Dominoes though.

Sadly, this will probably happen in a few years in poker too.

Funny how short-lived online gaming for money was.
Technology brought us online gaming, but technology also brought us bots that could beat the games.

the only reason there are no strong bots in gin and dominoes is there's no incentive to make one, backgammon is way more complex of a game and the mobile version of XG on my phone would smoke any human

Posters above have hit the exact answer. Games in which computers can easily beat humans and can make decisions as fast as humans (so as to be undetectable), can only fairly be played live.

I remember 5 years ago in PS a employee played a player that was suspicious of botting and at the same time (according to a REG-pal of mine) was having a convo in skype where the suspect needed to tell why he made all moves he did with the banned-account as a stake. He was never to be seen again after that session because he could not play as good as he played before when scamming other players.
