Re: Video Poker Hourly win rates

Anyone have any videos of a professional VP player playing 1k h/r? I just want to see what it looks like.

Re: Video Poker Hourly win rates

it's no sweat to find games in Vegas that are $25/hr and up
but, most of you would be idiots to become devoted to that type of thing

the bankroll requirements and swings are ridiculous compared to online no-limit holdem or live poker

Is there any reason why these swings exist in video poker over online or live poker?

I don't play video poker, but I assume that it's because hitting the jackpots are rare?

Pay tables are top heavy. Royals are rare.

Basically this. Quarter full-pay deuces wild has a variance of 25.84 betting units per hand. If you get 500 hands/hr, in then you have a variance of 25.84*1.25*500 = $16150/hr. Standard deviation, SD, is equal to the square root of variance leading to an SD of $127/hr. Live 1/2NL has an SD similar to this if you play nitty, but unlike video poker, the opportunities for much larger win rates exist.

The high variance combined with little profit is what makes video poker hell from an advantage gaming standpoint.
