Total Reward Comp Question
So I have a question that hopefully someone has some insight on.
I am currently a platinum player on Total Rewards and basically got there in under 2 months. I have a buddy that is still gold and has his tier around 1900 where as mine is 6900.
Now he has gotten like 3x the amount of offers and 3x the $$ money for them than I have. He goes like maybe once every 3 months where I am going about 4 times a month.
He has gotten offered free flights, etc. and I have gotten nothing.
Is it because he's only gone every so often where I am going more frequently? I am consistently rated high (or so a couple pit workers have told me due to tipping/overly friendly).
Hope someone has some insight because it makes me wonder if going for diamond is even worth it?

Re: Total Reward Comp Question
You go around 12 times more often than him but only have around 3.5x his tier. He has a much higher ADT than you, which is the primary factor in offers given. Your card tier has nothing to do with *most* offers.

I don't understand this comment. It might make sense that they told you because you're "tipping/friendly" -- but not that you're rated "high" because you're "tipping/friendly". Assuming you meant and believe the first interpretation, I don't see what they "told" you. What does "high" mean?

Re: Total Reward Comp Question
I emailed one of my friends who is a casino host basically gave the responses you gave me regarding the ADT. That was something I did not know about (usually only play poker and now changing to table games).
In terms of rated high, i only assumed it is faster tier points, but as my buddy pointed out, the difference between diamond and tier doesn't really increase my offers and just gets me diamond lounge

Re: Total Reward Comp Question
Yep, your buddy and the casino host are right. Offers are mainly based on ADT. If your buddy has 1900 Tier, only went 3x this year and played only penny slot machines for example, his ADT would roughly be (1900pts/3 days)*($5/pt)*($0.12loss/$1 wager) = $380/day. If your status all came from $2/$5NL and you have went to play 25 times this year... Avg. Session = 6900/34/25 = 8 hours. Expected loss per hour = $12/hr (high end guess). ADT = $12/hr*8hrs/day = $96/day. Poker players at CET right now also get a lot of tier points for their expected loss, imo.
Also CET rates slots/video poker better than live poker generally. Not sure about table games. Also CET is well-known for offering more generously to those that occasionally gamble big in their property versus the ppl they know are "hooked" for more moderate sums. If all of a sudden you stopped playing there for a few months, it's possible you would get a "please come back" offer.

Re: Total Reward Comp Question
Is Diamond or 7 star worth any true value with Horseshoe properties/Total Rewards? I literally am getting anywhere from 1k-2k tier points every trip just playing craps and wonder if it's worth going for

What???
Are you saying that his ADT is $12/hr from live poker? Are you basing this on rake?
I know that poker players do not get anywhere near the offers table players get and table players dont get offers like slot players. You can ge a gold slot player and get tons of great harrahs offers. You can be a diamond poker player and get almost nothing.

Diamonds value is in the Diamond VIP line for check in bc in vegas the lines are crazy! Diamond also gets room upgrades if avalible and they get front of line for all meals. The other benefit is the diamond lounge. You also get other perks like gift wrap invites and slot pormotions.
7 Star is a whole new world... They get anything they want and are the top .01% of players. $1MM in play gets you close to 7 star and you need to be invited (not hard). Here you get cruise, flight, dinners, birthday dinners, tickets, suites on 24 request.
Is any of this worth it? Who knows...

Re: Total Reward Comp Question
Keep in mind that if you have Diamond/Seven Stars and decide to pop into one of their lounges for a snack/drink but don't play, you will generate a zero trip, good way to ruin your ADT.

Re: Total Reward Comp Question
It's more than a likely a ploy to bring back inactive or less frequent players.
Have the same issues with Trump Entertainment as well as Ballys(CET).
A friends with a Tier score of 89(which is very low) gets offers for the following: $25 matchplay twice a week, Free slot/Blackjack tournys with $10000 Bonus chips for BJ, Free Gifts every week and Comped rooms ANY day of the week.
My Tier Score is 3177, good for Executive level(equal to Platinum) and all I get is $25 matchplay ONCE a week, Free slot/BJ tournys(no bonus chips), and a comped room Sun. - Thurs(which is useless seeing how I work the morning after those days!)
I went so far as to call my "Host" and ask why this was happening and he said "Well, sometimes WINNING is the best gift and the rest just falls into place!"
I was ready to reprimand him, but maintained my composure and simply said "Maybe I'll do my winning somewhere else then?" And I have been to Trump casinos less and less in favor of Revel and Sands in Bethlehem PA.
As for CET. They pulled the same stuff on a smaller scale.
Friend of mine who goes often, has platinum status, but gets no Slot coupons or Direct Bet vouchers. Another friend, with Gold status, has a whopping 34 tier score and gets a $20 Direct Bet coupon every 2 weeks, prior to that was getting $10 weekly slot coupons mailed to them.
Also when I book rooms online for the weekend, I use Platinum's card # as my companion and get a high rate with little or no discount. I use Gold's card # for the same dates, and get a considerably lower amount, sometimes even $0 for the rate on a Friday during the summer. Which I book, show up alone, rarely get asked for my companion's ID or whereabouts and check-in undeterred.
So there may be some kind of marketing scheme devised to offer "incentives" to the less visible customers than the higher tiered.

That is actually a really good tip I have been using for years. I'm platinum but my friend gambles a lot bigger, I always put him down as my companion. Gets better or free rate, never been asked once where he is at check in. Worst case scenario I would say he was arriving later, if they pressed I would just say book at my rate until he checks in, but again has not been a problem yet.
Cliffs become friendly with a high stakes gambler or always add a companion of some sort when reserving online, it usually helps.

Re: Total Reward Comp Question
They wouldn't care where the companion is, but doing this hurts your companion's ADT, because according to the system he is there.

When I was in Tunica last month I stayed at Harrahs and when I checked in they asked for my companion. I said she wasnt there quite yet and he said he can not get my rate until she arrives. He gave me keys but said I would pay a higher rate if they did not check in yet. She was in the car so I just had her come in but I dont know if I would have actually paid the higher rate.

yea, I think recently they've cracked down on people booking low rates and flying solo at check-in.
If you get a cool clerk, they'll just buy your story and check you in at the low rate. Sometimes making up a sob story will work ie: We drove 3 hours to get here, we don't have enough money/energy to drive back, we got kids, etc.
A buddy of mine got a Comped room on a Saturday at Showboat when he used my card # as the companion. Which I had no problem with, until he called and said they were being hard asses about Me showing up to check-in for the comped room.
They bumped the rate to $269 + tax(which is some absurd $40 more) and he asked what he should do. I told him hang out for a while, I'll come down and get you the comped room. Caught a bus down, checked in by myself with no fuss, made a quick $300, gave him the room keys and left.
And oh yea, his tier score was higher than mine, but we have the same tier level. So who knows what the parameters are for comped rooms on weekends.

Re: Total Reward Comp Question
Oh comped rooms are completely different. The actual person who the comp belongs to has to physically check-in. This is true virtually everywhere.
If the same is true to receive the companion rate, then it is no different than the companion booking a room, checking in, and simply adding your name to it. So I don't get why it's even an option then. It just confuses people.
