Hello Boys and Girls,
A buddy of mine was going to Shreveport/Bossier City, LA for a Golf and Gambling trip and asked if I wanted to tag along. So I dialed up the Horseshoe and got a room. Shortish trip. We got in Sunday morning at 10:00 AM and left at 4:00 PM on Monday.
No golf for me and I got destroyed in the pits. I'll spare you the details, but hey, you got to keep those free room offers coming somehow. VP however, was a little different.
All I played was 8/5 Double Double Bonus. Not the greatest pay table, but when you live in an area where there aren't a lot of options within driving distance, you take what you can get.
So to get my feet wet upon arrival Sunday morning, I toss $60 in a bar top, grab a beer and get to work. Looked like it was going nowhere fast until...
Got close to cracking the $100 barrier in about 2 hours of play, but cashed out $70 for a $10 profit and left to grab some lunch.
I played some 'real' poker and degened around in the pits for a while, but it was quickly apparent the maybe I should go chill out and play some more VP.
Put my $70 voucher in what would become my favorite bar top and...
Played a couple of more hours and cashed out $125.
By this time, the boys had made it back from playing golf. So we hit the pits, where my run bad continued, until about midnight. They all had to get some sleep, as they had an early tee time the next morning.
I had no such problem and decided to play a $1 progressive machine. I had cashed my last voucher so I put in $100. The Royal payout was ~5300.
Nothing really exciting was happening after this hand, so I cashed out $300.
Not feeling tired yet, I headed back to my favorite bar top, and put in 100 around 1:30 AM.
Damn It! Where is the Ace of Diamonds when you need it most?
But hey, a straight flush is always nice.
Quite a while later after slowly bleeding some of my profit...
No kicker, but again, no complaints here. I check my watch, and it is almost 4:00 AM. I decide to cash out for $275 and stumble back to my room.
I wake at 9:00 AM the next morning, get a shower, check out a grab a quick breakfast. Since I had learned my lesson in the pits the day before, I decide I am going to grind VP until it is time to go and head off to 'my' bar top.
NO! Somebody is on 'my' machine! Damn it. I will just play another one. They are all the same right? Not so much. I played 3 other machines and could hardly sniff J high or better to hold.
In the mean while, the fine gentleman playing 'my' machine hit two 4OAK's. GRRRRRR!!! Being the friendly sort that I am, I had struck up a conversation with him, and told him about the run good I had on it the night before.
Luckily for me, it was lunch time and he left to go eat. He shook my hand and said the machine was all mine. I was skeptical since the machine had just paid some big hands, but this was 'my' machine.
I had lost $100 on the other machines so I started with another $100 here. It was about 1:30 PM by this time, so I only had a little over 2 hours left to play.
That is when the God of Gambooler decided to pull the BOOM switch!!!
No kicker again, but a nice start.
Shortly afterwards I get dealt 4 beautiful cards. Most of you know how this usually turns out.... you get the deuce of not the right suit to go along with it.
It just so happened when I got the hand, the sweetest little cleaning lady pushing a trash can, had stopped by and was talking to the bartender. I turned to her and asked her if she was lucky? She said "I sure am." To which I said "Alright, when I push this button, if the Q of hearts comes up, I will give you $20."
I immediately went into my pocket and paid her off, to which she said "God Bless you sir, God Bless!" For good measure, I tossed a $20 to the bartender, since he had kept me flush with wobbly pops while playing.
After finishing my Royal Flush dance, I gathered myself and played on.
Should I complain about no kicker again?
You are kidding right?
After this 4OAK, I played about another half hour before my buddy came to pick me up and head home. Although no more big hands, I couldn't miss. Need a card for a gut shot straight, no problem. 2 pair, bang, full house. It was crazy.
I ended up cashing out $1450. Most insane run of VP I probably will ever have. Hope everyone enjoyed it.
