Take a Survey on Gambling Behavior

The University of Oklahoma is currently conducting research on problem gambling. We are interested in American & Canadian subjects ages 18-64 who gamble regularly. If you are interested, you may volunteer to take a survey that should take around 30 minutes to complete. If you choose to participate, you can enter your email address and will be sent a 10 dollar Wal-Mart gift certificate.

Copy and paste the link below into your browser for more details:

I added in the www by hand before this link was edited over a week ago. It worked fine. Got the e-giftcard in about 24 hours.

Edit: You need to add in the www for the surveymonkey link:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/gamblingsurvey1

This will send you to the right place if you want to do the survey.

TY. I'm not very internet savvy just clicking on the other one didn't work/said it could be harmful. This way worked.

Easy survey especially if you don't care too much to think over "is this strongly agree or somewhat agree". Think I finished it in five minutes or so. $120/hr brag imo,

Re: Take a Survey on Gambling Behavior

Just wanted to update I got the e-card today. Easy survey all just clicks I'm rich and thought it was worth the time. Just some basic do you drink and gamble, do you do drugs and gamble, have you damaged a relationship due to gambling, performed poorly at work due to gambling, etc and some personality type stuff...are you likely to complete a project you started, etc.

Same dumbass questions everybody in the shrink business asks about gambling. For example all forms of gambling are lumped together, from massively -EV games like slots and horses, to mildly -EV games like craps, to games in which skill can be a factor such as poker or 21.

Re: Take a Survey on Gambling Behavior

The survey in question does ask specific questions about what type of gambling you engage in.

Re: Take a Survey on Gambling Behavior

Yeah it did iirc. I feel kind of bad I answered the questions honestly if without much thought. It probably gives gambling a bad name. They're kind of loaded though imo. I mean something like "have you ever gambled and then got in an argument with someone close to you" (i can't remember if that was a specific question but there were questions like that) I mean of course I have. You could also ask have I ever ate a peanut butter sandwich and then got in an argument with someone close to me and I'd say yes though. Hope answers like that don't help some study get gambling banned. I did think about that a little after the survey and thought maybe I should have answered less honestly.

Re: Take a Survey on Gambling Behavior

I felt weird about the online gambling questions because there wasn't a "Before Black Friday" category. And Wheel, I wouldn't worry about your answers causing gambling being banned anywhere at least from a live setting. Has there been any state that has cut-out or cut back gambling in modern history? Live casino gambling has never been more legal in the US than it is today. It's a cash cow for the states, mainly thanks to "problem gamblers"!

Do you have to be a problem gambler to participate?

From the front page:

Quote:
University of Oklahoma
Institutional Review Board
Information Sheet to Participate in a Research Study

Project Title: Problem and Pathological Gambler Subtypes: A Cluster Analysis of Associated Features of Blaszczynski and Nower’s Pathways Model

You are being asked to volunteer for this research study. This study is being conducted at The University of Oklahoma. You were selected as a possible participant because you are between the ages of 18 and 64 and have gambled in the past.
So, no, you don't have to be a problem gambler by your own judgment to participate.

I know this is foreign to you but some people gamble because doing so is a way to generate income, not because they are addicted to gambling.
