Easily enough time to be playing a winning game -- but is the investment worth it? I'd say no.

Super noob question, what winrates are possible at blackjack if you are counting cards.

I know in poker we talk in terms of bb/hr, is there an equivalent in black jack?

Lets say you are at a $5 - $500 table and you have $500 to play with.

If we average 50 hands per hour betting between $5 - $25 per hand, is there anyway to figure out how???

hmmm.... did some google fu and found a blackjack forum site...

skimmed through it and it claims something about 1 unit / 100 hands...

I guess a unit is a bet. So if we are betting $25 when the cards are +1 (or positive or whatever the favorable conditions are) then I guess we can look at earning $25/100 hands so $12.50/hr....

man that sucks I guess you are right about it not being worth it.

If you're looking for a goldmine, you're looking in the wrong place.

You don't even have enough ammo to flat bet.

The hands per hour will obviously affect your hourly expectation, but that's all. Hands per hour will be closer to 100 -- it depends on the number of players, but 100 is a good average in a good game.

When looking for a game you need to balance the table minimum wager, strategic minimum spread, and available bankroll. Another rule of thumb -- you want a bankroll of ~200 top bets -- that's about a half-Kelly when you find a good game and a full Kelly in a marginal game. So ... in your example where you have $500 to play with -- let's do it backwards. You need 200 bets, so your top wager is $2.50. You will need a minimum spread of about 5:1 -- so you need to find a 50 cent table, and spread .50-2.50 to win. You'll make about $2.50 to $3.75 an hour in a really good game.

Likewise, in your $5-25 example, you'll need a bankroll of $5,000.

also if you have 500$ and play 0.50 - 2.50, let's say you lost 250$.
now you have to play 0.25 - 1.25 in order not to get ruined.
but if you win 500$ you may start betting a cool 1-5.
