This isn't really about poker but mainly house games in general. So you're sitting there placing your bets on blackjack or PaiGow. Sometimes you sit on 18 and 19 vs the dealer's 10 and agonize the moments before the dealer is done with the other hand (because obv you're drawing dead) and your phone buzzes.

You figure you might say what's up to your friend or tell him how long you're gonna be, or just read a quick text from a female to get a smile on your face. The MICRO-SECOND you take your phone out, the Earth stops rotating and all hell breaks loose. "PHONE'S GOTTA BE PUT AWAY THOUGH" - "SIR YOU CAN'T HAVE THE PHONE AT THE TABLE". Feels like someone just pulled a gun at an airport check point. Whether it's the dealer or the pit boss. You would think that taking thousands of dollars every hour, these crooks would at least TRY to make your experience half pleasant.

Sometimes it's for something even more innocuous. Like standing up between placing your hand and the dealer opening theirs. Humans tend to stand up to relieve stress in high adrenaline situations. But no, "SIR YOU GOTTA BE SEATED!!", with a hand motion that puts you in a state of a ****ing lab animal.

I always wondered why they act like prison guards in a casino. I mean they're taking your hard earned money.

One theory is that of capitalism vs communism, private sector vs government...

Go buy price-regulated goods and you'll wait in line and be treated
like ****. But go buy a luxury good and they'll welcome you with arms wide open.

Go renew your license (at a government office) and see how much they care about your convenience. But go watch a movie on an ordinary day and you're King.

Try driving on a main highway during rush hour vs a private toll highway.

I feel like it's an obligation vs choice. You're obligated to pay your driver's liscense fees, to pay your bills, etc. So the people at the government offices or bank don't give a rat's ass about you. You have a choice of touristic destination and in no way obligated to spend your money. So resorts treat you like a king.

For gambling however, it's not a choice anymore. It's an addiction that needs to be fed. We have evidence of people destroying their relations, families, finances, careers and credit just to feed that addiction. So it's not a choice anymore. Sitting at the blackjack table losing hand after hand, drawing dead hand after hand and still putting your money on the felt tells the floor person that you don't respect yourself enough to walk away.

Still, it doesn't cost much to treat someone like human. Yet people don't do it unless there was a strict obligation to do so.

I used to work at a government call center. We were extremely passively condescending towards clients. And why not. They are calling to get freebies and our jobs are at no risk whatsoever. Our tone of voice was "what the hell do you want and why are you calling here!?".

Not sure what your point is... As in, what the relevance is.

But I find this surprising. My local casino is pretty accommodating to the people who's cash they take.

My question is why are casino employees, and supervisors especially, are such *******s. Funny they're not like that when you win. But when you lose, they needle you and treat you like the scum of the earth you are for giving money to the house. Maybe it's a built-in psychological scheme to make you open your eyes and hence better the human species.

I thought you were confined to the BBV section. I am reporting you to Latimer.
Stop tarding up other areas.
Oh, and don't play table games.

Now, get back in the basement.

Cheating??? Wtf. They need to stop acting like everyone's a crook and a cheat , especially while they're the ones raking in thousands of dollars by the hour per player. It's not even funny how I've seen dealer's go on unreal runs. The whole table with stiff hands, and every single one of the them hitting hits a paint card. The few remaining hands (17-20) stand no chance as the dealer's automatic 20 will appear precisely 100% of the time. Four paint out of
13.. 30.7%... Tell anyone the dealer makes a 20 less than 1 in 3 times when sitting on a 10 and they'll laugh at you. It's pure devil's game!!

Self therapy. Reading about addictions and brain chemistry online. I wish there was a force to stop me from playing house games. I really need help. Poker and sports betting is fine. It's really the house games that kill me in no time.

Except for in games like poker where they don't care about cheating, print money, and still cry about it.

It's usually state law/they can get fined for it if caught in usa#1 not the individual casino's preference. Same way many bar owners don't care if you're 20 or 21 but do care about getting fined and the like.

Doesn't mean you can't be upset at somebody and doesn't mean there aren't good/customer friendly ways to enforce it but your main beef should probably be with some crooked/incompetent politician not your local dealer/floor/suit/etc.

As a floor I can answer this with ease. It's in our internal controls that no electronically devices are used at the table. This includes Bluetooth earpieces, headphones, and to some extent smart watches.
With it being in the rules, we also have other rules where you can't play money on other peoples bonus hands. Again, not our rule, but state law.
If you have any problems with rules, read the internal controls of your local casino. They are posted online.

If only the pit boss explained it that way and not like Hitler. I mean what could someone possibly do with a cell phone while the hand is already over and the dealer is doing all her shananigans of placing color chips, adjusting chair, setting her hair, switching the reserve button from one column to the other and all that bull**** while we wait for a hand.

No, you're right. I frankly couldn't give two sh*ts what you do. If I'm doing a fill in a game and someone pulls out their phone, I won't say anything to them. But if it's mid hand where there is action or something along those lines, then I'm like a ninja as I say as nicely as possible to please put the phone away or step back from the table.

We're in an area that is extremely saturated so you're fighting for every customer. No sense in losing one over a phone ordeal.

I should add we did have a player attempt to clock the wheel on roulette using his cell phone. So it's just casinos being paranoid.

I love this comment. Anyone remembers Bell customer service before Telus and Rogers and AT&T became popular?

Also, my home casino is the opposite. It's a monopoly and everyone is unionized. The staff is rude and passively aggressive condescending. Comps are zero. You could litterally lose $100,000 in a month and all they'll give you is a sandwhich.

Why not quit them all? You'd probably be better off for it.

I thought the reason for the rule was they are afraid you'll book bets for your friend in Poughkeepsie (or other jurisdiction where gambling is illegal) via your cell phone.

I didn't make it all the way through your post or the responses, but I can tell you that these policies are for a reason. The employees yelling at you may not fully understand the reason why they're implemented, but they are trained to follow them to the T. So, they take their jobs seriously, probably have below average customer service skills, and it just comes off as frigid. Remember, never underestimate the incompetence of others, and if these casino employees could be doing something else (better), they probably would be.

I hope this helps and pacifies your displeasure of the casino experience. If it doesn't, I urge you to stay away anyway. Casinos are unpleasant places.
