why was my post deleted???

let's try again without mentioning the name "bonus wh***g".

check out wizard of odds for blackjack: http://wizardofodds.com/games/blackjack/

and this for roulette: http://wizardofodds.com/games/roulette/

however, those strategies will minimize your losses and do not change the game into something ev+. only a bonus can turn the ev- game into something ev+. 10 years ago there were plenty of online casinos offering such bonusses with a low wagering requriement. theese days the wagering requirement for the bonus is so high, that it is still ev-.

learn how to calculate the ev for a specific bonus and if you find something ev+ grind it out. once you have satisfied the wagering requirements, cash out the winnings. GL!

there was other methods too in the past, like card counting for example, but theese days the casinos have burn cards and they don't play the entire shoe, so this won't work.

recently there was a promo on pokerstars spain. it was like, bet €1 in a roulette game and get a ticket to a freeroll. i played everyday and placed 50 cents on black and 50 cents on red. then i got the ticket. the tournament was an all-in donkament, but anyways, it was like 1k players with 2k euro to win (ev=2€). allin all this made playing roulette very profitable! it only lasted for a week or so and i made like €6 (yes below my previously calculated EV), but without much work (10 seconds everyday). LOOL.

for roulette there maybe more advanced techniques that i don't know about, to predict where the ball will land, especially if the roulette wheel is flawed and not producing perfect randomness: http://www.bettingexpert.com/casino/...lgucken-system

just to give you an idea how to calculate the ev.

for example with the stars roulette promo:
in case of a 0 you loose your €1
in case of 1-36 you don't win, but you don't loose

So (36*0-1*1)/37=-0,02702702702702702702702702702703

You loose 2.7 cents each game on average, but with the bonus this changes into
-0,02702702702702702702702702702703+2€ (the ticket's value)=€1,972972972972972972972972972973 each time you place the 1€ bet (split in 50 cent for black and 50 cent for red) and get the ticket. That is almost 100% ROI.

unfortunately those promos are hard to find theese days

oh no. my calculation was horribly wrong.

the ev is like that without the €2 ticket (so you loose ~5 cent each time):
(36*1-1*1)/37=€0,94594594594594594594594594594595

and with the bonus:
€0,94594594594594594594594594594595 + €2=2,9459459459459459459459459459459

So actually almost 300% ROI. it was so obviously ev+ that i did not calculate it before the promo

I think it is correct now.

omfg. it is still wrong. sorry for spamming your thread.

(36*1+1*0)/37=€0,97297297297297297297297297297297 (EV of betting 50 cent red+ 50 cent black)

with the bonus=€2,97297297297297297297297297297297

Are you sure it's -0.02702702702702702702702702703 and not -0.02702702702702702702702702702?

thank you. yes, the first and the last one are correct. the last one is the ev and the first one is the amount of cents lost each bet.

we bet 1€ and 36 times out of 37 we win 1€, one out of 37 times we win nothing.

so ev=(36*1+1*0)/37

and yes, if the ev of the €1 bet is close to €3, then the ROI is 200%

You cannot break even by making negative expectation wagers.

the ev value u have above is of the total return. u want it to be of the wager, which is implicit IMO in the gambling world.

using ur formula, the ev of the total return needs to be of the bet (in this case €1) to be breakeven. so in ur case, if the ev is 0.5, it's actually still -ev (implied to be of the wager).

First you need to understand that in a game of fixed odds like roulette, the EV is determined by the game rules only. No betting strategy can change that at all. On an American wheel, the EV is negative 2/38 times the amount wagered, for all but one exotic bet not always offered, which is worse.

Nothing you can do short of cheating or predicting a wheel bias, changes that. Ever.

I just did simple calc 1 / 36 = 2.77...
So according to me we'r losing ~2.8% each round

there was no wager attached to this promo. just the €1 bet. but unfortunately it was limited to one €2 ticket per day. so even if you loose your €1 (ZERO) you still end up 100% ROI in the worst case. and if you keep it, in the other cases (1-36) you get 200% ROI. so it is a ROI that is very attractive to a poker player and might move them to the roulette table (for the duration of the promo). in poker MTTs most players have a lower ROI, I have 46% or something.

so you could do the same type of caluclation for a perfectly played backgammon hand and multiply the EV of a single hand (using the smallest bet amount possible) and multiply that with the number of hands required for wagering. sometimes it is like 15k bj hands or even higher, depending on the casino. next you can calculate, for example if it is 100% signup bonus and you invest $100 and get $100 bonus (total of $200), if this game is ev+. it is ev+ if the remaining money is bigger than your investment. let's say you do this and play the number of hands required and $130 are left in the acount, then you can cash that out.

it all depends on the wagering and the ev of the strategy you play. i think you can find the ev numbers on the wizard of odds site, depending on strategy.

according to this old thread i found "...100% matching bonus even with 150x playthrough is still +25% EV...". 150x playthrough means 150 times the bonus. it started with 5x playthrough i don't know how many casinos demand today on average.

and here is even something from the wizard of odds on how to calculate the EV when bonus hunting:
