Hey Everyone,

I've been living in New York, all my life. I'm 24 and have been playing poker since I was 17 at clubs around New York as well as down in AC. Over the past year or so, I've been going down to AC and have been playing blackjack and baccarat. I've been doing pretty well yet the only down side is that I have to travel to Atlantic City every time I want to play blackjack or baccarat.

I've asked a lot of friends and acquaintances at underground poker spots in New York about any underground casino games in New York but no one really knows anything. Does anyone know of any spots in the tri-state area? Would love to be able to go to one here locally rather than trek 2 and a half hours down south to crummy AC.

The first rule of underground clubs is the same as the second rule of underground clubs.

I don't know about blackjack or baccarat, but I've been going to a 1/2 poker game for a few years now and it's a legit game.

Would you happen to know anyone there who might know about blackjack or baccarat? I would come to the 1/2 game and throw some action if need be

anyway like i said the guys that run this thing have been doing so for a long time, if you win, you get paid in cash right away, variety of types of players / people etc, and its in a convenient location near penn station

Yeah all the 5 boroughs, Long Island, and NJ are fine. Just as long as its not too far from the city. Would love to be able to play baccarat or blackjack this week if possible. I'm sure the people you know might know someone who knows someone. Let me know

Thanks

AC is a 3 hour drive each way from me. Its a real pain to get too. If there was a place that was 30min-1hr away that would be much better that's all

ya dude where do you think ive been playing blackjack for the past year? lol, honestly though its only like 127 miles it could be worse, but yeah it sucks to drive there then lose 500 dollars and have to drive back, its worth when you come up though obv

what stakes do you play at anyway? 10? 20?

I usually sit down with 500-1000 and play 25 min and don't leave until im up a few gs

what sucks the most is that I'll play blackjack for such a short amount of time. I'm not playing for 3 hours. I'll play for an hour tops. So the time to get there compared to the time I'm playing is just ridiculously not worth it.

I know there has to be something in NY and they're probably always looking for new customers. just need someone to get me in

lol man, if i had to drive 3 hours to go win a couple of gs in 1, and drive back, i wouldn't complain

you must be pretty good to have that kind of consistent return, nj, let me know if you find something i want in as wel, the fools at the 1/2 game didn't know ****

0ff topic but relates somewhat to blackjack. I played BJ frequently back in the late 80's early 90's before poker became big in AC . I would play at $25 minimum table bought in for $300 -$500 . That amt would hold me for maybe 2hrs depending how good i would run or i would blow it within an hr if my luck was running bad. My question is in relation to poker cash games . Would $25 minimum BJ table and $2 $4 NL table have the same equality ? Would $5 $10 NL be more along the lines of $100 minimum BJ table? I would think $1 $2 NL would be more along the lines of $10 minimum BJ table. Would you agree on any of those comparisons?

Why don't you try the Sands in PA from NYC. About an hour or so ride.

If you want your money to last, don't play no limit. You can lose your whole stack in one hand in NL.

Maybe, but ill admit the point you brought up is an important one for any poker player that thinks seriously about the game. That is one of its interesting qualities, the game. But its a two edged sword in that you can also protect your entire stack by folding. Here's an example:

Last night I played 1/2 for 3 hours. I always buy in short, for 80, because it's a long grind and most of the time controllable to run it up. The difference is I enjoy it, and can do it for long, long hours, and not hate being alive while doing it. Anyway, i got up to around 300 in the beginning, i was getting nice cards, straights and boats and the like. Then it started to go cold, and i was back to 95. This rhasta type character that had just sat down raised to a modest $12, I 3bet him 25 more to 37 total, all folded to him, who shoved.

I tanked for a long time before someone said clock, and ended up folding. I flipped over the kk to show, which prompted him to flip over his aa. I saved my stack there by making what most people would call and impossible fold. I think im getting better

After a lot of deliberation i just figured that this guy wouldn't jump from a small pot sweetening, standard 3-4 x raise to a 4-bet allin without aces. so i let it go

No Limit poker is what killed the last 'poker boom' before the Internet one. No Limit games skinned the sheep and it crashed.
