Foxwoods BJ: Getting backed off???

I generally play poker at FW, but played some BJ w/ friends this past trip. One friend can count and we did play in the Newport Room ($50 Min)

We played for like 6-7 hours and were up ~$750 each. I did notice that the dealer started boxing ~2.5 decks of the 6 deck shoe at some point.

Well, I went to reserve my free rooms there and I was told that my account has been frozen and I need to come in and speak to the Casino Manager. I am pretty sure I am going to be told I cannot play BJ, which sucks but it fine, since I mostly play poker. I just really do not want to get banned because I usually just play poker.

Can anyone offer any insight into any of this. Also, what should I say/do if I do decide to go in and speak to the guy?

If you do get backed off, they'll probably tell you that they don't want your bj action. Everything else will probably be okay.

AFAIK at Foxwoods bans are always property-wide. OP you'll probably be watched like a hawk anytime you play non-poker, and also possibly get your offers taken away.

You won $750 each and they froze you out? Doesn't sound right. You are small potatoes to them, and they are not worried about counters at your level. It must be something else.

Actually in the room he was playing in they specifically look out for card counters, because it's all $50 and higher tables.

I just don't see you getting banned over $750. Maybe it's not about the money you won, it's strictly about counting cards. Either way, let us know what happens.

It's never about the amount won--or lost. It's always about counting cards.

Best OP can hope for is that this does not affect his ability to play poker at the property.

Yes, the problem is if you want to avoid the Hit Soft 17 rule you need to play in the Newport. I did tell them that the .2% the house gains in edge is probably not worth the heat where you are clearly going to be more scrutinized by floor and the camera's. But nobody listens to me lol

Good point. The thing is, I really didn't think taking $750 was going to be a big deal. Also, I really don't play BJ often. I really just don't wanna get a property ban.

I was also wondering if anyone has had something similar happen to them at FW so they could tell me what to expect.

Remember the scene from Casino when they caught the two guys working the BJ scam? It won't be that bad.

Yeah the MGM high roller room was the only other room that kept S17 when the casino switched last year, but even they eventually switched a couple months ago. Newport is it (well, and Stargazer).

I know almost everything about the ins and outs of Foxwoods, but surprisingly I don't know anyone or heard any stories of this happening to. Don't know what to expect.

He wouldn't have to. He could just mimic his friend's bets and effectively be counting.

Re: Foxwoods BJ: Getting backed off???

Why'd you play so long? Why on earth didn't you leave when you noticed the procedure change? Why didn't you go talk to the manager (if you were innocent and getting hotel revoked I'd think you'd want to go sort it out right away, no?)?

I don't know what you should say. It depends on your history with them and your demeanor for the most part. I'd guess just telling the story basically like it is, "Usually don't play much but some friends were in town and wanted to play, I played with them and we sat at a really lucky table, what's the problem?" and then deny anything after. I don't think it's going to make much difference either way but I doubt admitting to anything will help your cause.

I'm pretty surprised you're smart enough to notice they were dealing to you differently but not smart enough to figure out that's a sign that this could be not "not a big deal". I don't fault you much for going to play with your buddies but think you pretty much asked for it when you took it to the point where they changed their game based on your play and you still didn't take the hint and put in a seven hour session. GL though.
