can anyone help, please!

i am trying to find the name of a film where this guy plays Craps, he wins lots of money on the craps table, gets a complimentory room off the casino, he has loads of money and owes someone money like a loan shark or bookie. then he loses it all again. he still owes someone money who wants it back. then he gambles some more i think and he wins enough to pay back his debts but instead og paying them back he keeps the money or the casino chips in his pocket and gets beat up instead.
my first thought the charactor i was thinking of was "Forest Whitaker", after buying a movie called "Even Money" which i thought was the film, it turns out it wasnt and desperately want to watch that film again.

it wasn't The Big Town. it was more of a newer film.

I first thought Hard Eight with a lot of details messed up but that isn't a newer film. Haven't seen what you're talking about but hope you find it.

thanks, i eventually found it. it was called "fragments", the person playing the craps table was Forest Whitaker.
i'm saving up for vegas and want to play craps there for the first time. it looks so good on the films.

From your description I was sure you were talking about Owning Mahowny. It's definitely worth a watch as well.
