Hi I found this video to avoid getting banned for card counting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzTF5QxLAx4
Anyone have any other tips besides wearing goofy costumes or something.
Thanks.

It's trivial for them to spot counters wearing Goofy costumes.
Wear a Donald Duck costume instead. If the pit boss asks if you're counting, say WAHWAHWAHWAHWAH.

The #1 piece of advice is to play short sessions. Don't play at sweatshops like El Cortez. From what I've heard they probably back-off more rec players than counters.

Naturally we as counters run into a lot of people who think counting a 6 or 8 deck shoe is impossible, etc... "But how much did you lose?" Right? So, one of the things that really makes these people think you're so full of sh*t is when you tell them you can get backed off at the El Cortez from spreading from $5-$20 lol. My only other $5-20 back-off experience (not including heat from a non-Vegas place) was at South Point where the pitdude just happened to be following the game closely. That's the only time I'd go back and play more than 10 minutes at a place like that is to show someone.

https://www.blackjacktheforum.com/forum.php or bj21.com are some ap bj sites I read from time to time.

Some personal experience as a recreational card counter:
- avoid long exposure to the DD S17 DAS RSA 66%+ cut MLife games in vegas (I've read it's safer to play the H17 games instead).
- make sure you have a high PE, low spread, and some cover in the SD H17 D10 6-7 round games in reno.
- when playing rated, rathole as many green chips as possible (obv on busy days).
- if unrated, keep the session very short (unrated sessions are the ones I get stared down by the pit).
- everytime i spot a pit making a phone call, i'll just give up my edge and play a breakeven game and spread randomly for the rest of the shoe and the next one (maybe too paranoid).

Yeah solid input that the $50 min (even $25 on weekdays at early morning hours at Aria) tend to have more observant casino staff. With that said, Aria, Bellagio (with the exception of one lady who has been there since opening) are not the El Cortez and don't care about 1-3x spreads from min bets over shorter periods of time.

The phone call thing I question a tiny bit. Isn't it better to just pick up at that point rather than play a -0.2% game?

Reno ... lol not sure. Better than what you mentioned is H17, either DAS and D9(to 11) or DA2 with no DAS. I wore out my welcome at El Dorado pre players card change. I was backed off 3 or 4 times over 2 full days before they took the time to put a note (alert?) on my card that said NO BJ! Wasn't welcome to play any table games but ended up being left alone at craps and roulette. Reno is good and comps can be great at first before they are told not to like you. Best advice if you can pull it off is just to act like a super degen whale. Dress nice. Play Fubster style where you spread $100-$900 for one big run and then snap jump ship at shuffle, going to another pit and/or returning after hours have passed. Understandably hard to pull off if you don't have nice, fitted clothing, watch, shoes, and are under 40.

P.S. Fubster I miss you.

I got backed off at Bellagio last trip and wasn't even counting. Went to cash out my chips at the end of the week and a couple suits came up to me. Here I figured it was hosts as I had played fairly big that week, and instead it is a lady with a nametag that said "Table Games Manager" telling me they are going to flat bet me. I was so stunned I was speechless.

I have always wondered how counting truly helped in 6/8 deck shoes when you are lucky to see more than 33% of the cards come out.

what **** hole casino cuts the shoe at 33 %?

the problem i have with shoe games is you need a much bigger spread to beat them so with the same bank roll you'll make a lot less money than playing double deck. of course i live on the east coast so i don't get to play double deck often.

i did find out the sands in pa had double deck until a year or two ago with great rules and i'm mad i missed it.
