Good review. Sounds interesting. I am stupid, so can you please explain your parable!? I'm thinking you're saying the dealer cheated (not sure how the 'beyond counter' knew for sure that dealer should have had an ace). But I'd guess there is further meaning in there I am missing...
I'm curious now about the state of blackjack today. I was into blackjack for several years before the poker boom, but basically stopped playing once I got into poker. I did pretty well with it (had mastered Uston APC at 1,2 and 6 decks - used to love the double deck game at Stardust!), but lived in LA and didn't know anyone could enough to pursue a team with - so wasn't really feasible. Plus it seemed the games were already declining fairly sharply (and I had just started law school), etc, etc
, so really just stopped pursuing it seriously.
Anyway, just went to Vegas for the week and played a bit, which rekindled my interest a bit! Are there many good pros still out there counting, etc (or employing some of the other techniques you hinted at above)? Was tough to find decent shoe games spreading green (almost everything was h17). Seemed there were some higher limit games with better rules (not sure about pen), which was curious to me. Not sure why the casinos would spread better games at higher limits (easier to attract/identify counters?)...
Well, was just kinda curious about the state of the games currently, and whether it would possibly be worth pursuing at all as an aside to poker. So who wants to form a team!? lol jk
