Re: Best strategy for Craps?

If you are going to bet the "do" side or with the shooter, the simplest strategy is to bet the pass line and take double odds, then place the 6 and 8, pressing every other time they roll.

this can't possibly be the simplest strategy.

Not even close. But that would give you pretty good action ... and if you're going to have fun ...

Re: Best strategy for Craps?

Some folks claim that you can learn how to throw the dice such that 7's come up less often than what their correct frequency IE control the dice by turning up a certain number & pitching the dice in the right way. Could be. I got harassed (I mean really harassed by the pit) many moons ago for pitching the dice really high and I couldn't figure it out. Years later I found out that the way I was throwing the dice was how people threw the dice to what's described above in order to achieve dice control.

Re: Best strategy for Craps?

I'd think very high throws would be harder to control and the reasons for not allowing them would include not wanting the dice to go out of sight and not wanting the dice to end up off the table way more often than normal not to prevent control. Just intuitively it seems a soft liner would have a better chance for precision both in the air and off the wall than a high pop-up.

Re: Best strategy for Craps?

my current strategy

i place the 6 & 8 for $12.00 or $18.00 & then put $5.00 or $10.00 each on the hard 6 & 8; sometimes just this for either the 6 or 8 depending on the table

that way even if an easy 6 or 8 is rolled, you still win & if a hard comes up you can win pretty good

if a seven is rolled quick, at least your loss is somewhat controlled/contained

while that is going on, if the shooter is rolling some numbers, i will start to bet the come with double odds on my come bets & maybe a hard 4 or 10 if i have a come bet on that number &/or that is the point

But what if the table isn't hot, is that when you move around to improve your odds?

it is also good to be in area like A.C. when you can go to many different casinos relatively easily

no, i usually set a loss limit & then leave the table

i will either go play poker or just leave the casino; if i stay at the casino, i will come back to the craps table after a period of time

i like to play craps before a poker tourney & try to win my buy-in making it essentially a "freeroll"; i usually stagger craps sessions around poker sessions

Or he didn't like my looks. I really don't know how feasible it is to pull off.

That's right. For all sorts of reasons (slows game down, creates the possibility of a switch to loaded dice), casinos don't want dice to go flying off the table.

On the other hand, the requirement that the dice go all the way to the back wall IS about preventing dice control.
