Re: Baccarat

A question about the game in LA.

I live in Hong Kong, so I'm more familiar with the game in Macau. I visited The Bike in LA this year. I want to ask, why do they have an extra plain clothed employee sitting at the end of the table with all the chips? Why do you need 2 casino employee to manage 1 baccarat table?

Re: Baccarat

The person at the table is not a casino employee. It's illegal for la casinos to have any interest in the outcome of a bet, so there is a company called the corporation that the casino has an arrangement with who hires people to sit at a table and take all the action for the casino. Most games also have a $1 charge per hand to the player and that is the only way the casino makes money by spreading these games.

Thanks. So it's some kind of quirky gambling law/loop hole thing.

Re: Baccarat

Very little experience in CA casinos, are 100% of the games booked by the corporation, or is there a chance for an entrepreneur to book a single blackjack table every now and then?

Re: Baccarat

Can someone please explain to me how this game is any different, strategy wise, from betting red vs. black on a roulette table?

It's not. Just smaller house edge.

That's what I figured, but can't figure out why so many people talk about "Baccarat strategy". I mean what is this nonsense in this thread. To me this is like betting on a coin flip...what more is there to it?

Baccarat isn't a simple succession of coin flips even if it could appear to be.

"Coin flips" happen on 91.4% of the total BP resolved hands, in the remaining 8.6% Banker as a huge mathematical edge (15.86%) over the Player.

This asymmetry is the cause of different statistical distributions of every single pattern registered. Of course it's a diluted effect thus it takes a lot of time and a lot of study to grasp the possible proper situations to bet.

I mean that the process involves a lot more than knowing, for example, that B singles are inferior in number to B streaks or vice versa or that P streaks are shorter than B streaks.

Even though BP hands aren't beatable by card counting, baccarat remains a finite and dependent card game, let's say a situational dependent game.

The best tool to prove this is to compare the distributions of a constant 50.68/49.32 proposition to real 312 or 416 decks.

Finally, via card counting some side bets baccarat could provide the patient player huge mathematical edges.

Re: Baccarat

So I was playing at a $50 min table with the dragon bonuses and proceeding to run my stack up to around 3k from 500. Shoe ends and a new one is being delivered when some random 50 year old white lady comes by and sits down. She grabs a scorecard and says I'm not playing just keeping score and watching. Me not wanting to be a dick and ask her to leave if she isn't playing (I felt like something was off about her) , I just let it slide. Shoe starts and we're in the middle of it and she's saying something every hand like "bet banker bet banker not player" or "tie hand now" or when I'm on banker she says "it's gonna be player change your bet oh shucks" .... I proceed to look at the floor person and give him the eye about the lady but he does nothing about it. What would you guys do if this happened to you?

Tell the floor you don't like spectators. He may or may not run her off. You are worth money to him she isn't. Decent shot he gives her the seats are reserved for active players spiel.

Re: Baccarat

One thing to discuss about baccarat is that any person with half a brain should not be playing that game...unless you want to ruin your life and end up losing everything.

No, you can't. But you can get lucky about half the time.

Re: Baccarat

Generally speaking, people claiming that baccarat isn't a beatable game are really clueless. Let's say very ignorant people.

We demonstrated one billion times here and there that via counting cards any player could get an enormous mathematical edge by betting certain side bets. Nobody can fkn prove otherwise, at least nobody getting two neurons working (along with a proper quantity of neurotransmitter, sometimes a rare finding).

Maybe it's more politically correct to stating over and over here that poker or bj are the games where a player could get an edge.

It's fairly well known that the Dragon Bonus is countable if the house gives favorable penetration on a shoe, for those willing to sit through most of the shoe and place a few bets per hour. It's also glaringly obvious one is doing it if the casino cares, and they simply cut the penetration back. But I'm pretty sure the guy who said the game is beatable wasn't thinking of this side bet at all.
