This was much earlier in online poker when we had a bundle of sites to choose from. Anyway - one of the sites I played at offered a game that really had some psychology to it even though I think it would be considered a kids game.

It was Rock, Paper, Scissors. You would see a line-up of people waiting for an opponent and by their name was the amount they wanted to play each game for. And of course a game lasted around 30 seconds to a minute at most.

I assume most people know this game....but for those who don't, it works like this. You and your opponent choose between one of those 3.....rock, paper, or scissors. You dont know what your opponent has and vice-versa.

And when u have each picked one - they would display.

So if your opponent had a rock and you had scissors....you lose cause a rock can break scissors. But if you have paper, you win, because you can wrap the rock in paper.

Bottom line for each:

Rock - beats scissors & loses to paper
Paper - beats rock & loses to scissors
Scissors - beats paper & loses to rock

And if u both pick the same - its a tie.

You'd have people wanting to play for 10 cents a game and others wanting to play for $10 a game. You'd just try to get into your opponents head and after enough games u could pick up on trends of your opponent & of course they were trying to do the same to you.

And like in any game, sometimes you'd run across players you could read well & make some decent money on if the stakes you agreed to were big enough.

And other times you'd run across players who were tough to read. Actually, I guess if your opponent just had a little wheel to spin that could end on any of the three items and thats the one he chose....he would be a tough opponent because you couldn't get into his head.

Anyway - anybody remember the site that had this game?

The GTO strategy at rock, paper, scissors is to throw each one-third of the time randomly.

One just needs a simple randomizing mechanism to be unexploitable at online rock, paper, scissors.

Of course, the GTO strategy at rock, paper, scissors also, unfortunately, breaks even against all strategies (this is not true for the GTO strategy in all games).

I played it with my sister. She enjoyed thinking she had an edge over the guy we were playing. I think it pretty much failed as obv, its way -EV for everyone and their was a pretty significant rake as far as I remember.

When I saw your -EV for everybody & a significant rake, I saw some of the big time angle-shooters raising a glass and getting off with a huge dopamine rush, & u know who you are.

It reminded me of another laughable way that Party Poker was gonna add a really significant amount to their balance b4 they said good-bye to the USA.

Here we GO......so, until Party left America.....in all the hold-em & I think Omaha & Omaha/8 too....every hand at every table they were so nice to the players, & especially the ones stuck real bad.

In every hand - u could bet whether the flop was gonna be 2 red & 1 black , or 2 black & one red.....or go for it, All Red or all Black. I don't remember the exact pay - outs.......but they were a ridiculous -EV. And u didn't have to be in the hand to make the flop bets.

I'm sure "Party Poker" had a big party when they finally had to leave the USA on their Yacht and watched the shoreline recede......just like big tobacco did.....they will just create more fish in other countries. Corruption is running as fast or faster than Usain Bolt.

My girlfriends roommate (whom I hated) in college won a local rock, paper, scissors contest thru bud light and won two tickets to vegas to compete in the national event with a $25,000 or $50,000 grand prize for the winner lol. They didn't win ****, but got free airfare, 4 nights at mandalay bay, and $1,000 spending cash. Plus all the free bud products they could drink. Needless to say, I was pretty pissed her *****ty roommate won and not her, or I would've went. that was in like 2005
