Maybe this is dumb, I don't know. Not going to have any time to do it anyway:

Eat with me
A diet blog, you post what you eat every day and track your weight.

Difference is it's social, with the idea if someone is doing well you copy their eating habbits. If people look at celebrity x and wonder how they have their figure they can follow them and eat with them.

People can theme their blogs, IE "Keto weight loss" and post their foods/recipes and people eat along.

Monetisation:
- One click order what someone has eaten or plans to eat so you can eat with them
- Advertising

Downsides:
- Potentially dangerous if someone is eating dangerously/stupidly or lying
- Probably a dumb idea

One thing I played around with 12-18 months ago that I've been thinking about picking up again is a way to keep track of golf tourney scores in real time.

Some friends and I had a "golf league" that was 3 or 4 foursomes every Saturday and for that I built a mobile site where we could all update our scores and see an up-to-date leaderboard based on handicap and scoring (Modified Stableford). Now it would be an excuse for me to learn Swift and build it as an iPhone app.

It's almost certainly a tiny business at best, but revenue streams could be in app ads, selling a premium version (more scoring options, no ads, etc), and selling an enterprise-type service for courses running big tournaments that includes white labeling, centralized access control for users, nice leaderboard graphics to display at the clubhouse, etc.

Subscription service that lets you access Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Gamestop. It would have to be pretty restrictive because the big providers wouldn't be big fans of this but for the right people that have multiple shows on each or are just interested in watching 20 hours a month, something like this could save them some money and make each service a bit more money off users they wouldn't normally get

but that comes at an expense of receiving less money from customers they already have.

If customers they already have switched, they would be limited in the amount of content they could watch per month. Something like an hour limit if you are using our service.

From there, there could also be a deal of some kind that if you get a first time user to switch from your service to theirs, you get a small piece of that as the affiliate who showed them the service.

how about starting a website similar to Couchsurfing, except that the expectations of hosts would be more formal than "here's a couch you can sleep on for x nights", and in turn charge a fee to guests.

for example, hosts would be expected at a minimum to spend a couple hours showing the guest around the city, have a home-cooked meal, and a place for them to sleep for 1 night (or whatever). maybe have a stricter verification process than CS too.

i feel like these are things that a lot of people in the CS community would probably do anyway, but being more explicit about what's involved might attract people who are wary of the CS thing.

You know all those theme slot machines they have now? What about skill game machines on the gaming floor? For example a seven player Risk machine, everyone pays a buy-in and the casino takes a rake. Yeah the bad players will never win, but they never win at slots either.

That sounds cool. I would guess the biggest hurdle would be getting Hasbro to license the intellectual property for the game to be marketed in this way. They might be reluctant to associate the brand with gambling.

Seems like a fun idea, but I don't see how the casino would generate enough revenue off of a game like that to justify keeping it on the floor.

How else can Hasbro continue to generate revenue off of Risk? Who is buying physical Risk boards in 2014? These games would constantly be full of Risk and Monopoly grinders, breakeven comp whores and GTO crushers. The casino makes the same rake whether the player is good or bad.

1) People do buy risk boards still (they aren't flying off the shelves of course).

2) Bad players wouldn't play. Time commitment, never winning...

3) They do win sometimes at slots. Sometimes even mirrrrions. They'd never ever break even at risk.

4) GTO crushers at Monopoly and Risk would only grind constantly if there was constant action (that wasn't made up of other GTO crushers), and meaningful enough stakes that it was worth it. These conditions wouldn't be met I don't think.

That's the amazon sales rank data for physical Risk boards in the last year. During slow retail periods, for instance summertime, based on the sales rank I estimate amazon is selling 30-50 units per day. In December, they'll probably move 200-300 units per day. And that's just for one version of the physical board game. There are several other versions that also pretty solid. And this is just data from 1 of the big 4 retailers. Physical Risk boards are selling just fine.

A service that acts as your agent if you leave something behind at an airport, especially stuff left at security in airports that aren't your home town. My mom left her laptop at security in Houston accidentally on a Thursday or Friday but couldn't even get anyone on the phone that could even tell her they had it for like 4 days. After that it took like 8 more calls and a week later to finally get them to send it back which cost her like 80 hours of work she had to redo. Seems like having an agent you could call would stream line the process of getting your stuff back in a timely manner. Would have to be an airport by airport roll out though, kind of like how Uber did their thing.
