Are there any online futures markets (like Intrade) for sports. Stuff like Champion, MVP, ROY, etc. I know some sites offer to lay odds on that stuff, but I think it would be cool to have a market with shares and trading and what not.

Intrade was co-founded and then acquired by a company called TradeSports that used to do exactly that. They folded up in 2008. I'm not entirely sure why (maybe to keep access to the US market for InTrade without pissing off regulators by allowing sports gambling?) but they didn't want to make a run at it.

There are some sites out there that do "stock markets" for sports like StarStreet (who are moving away from it to a daily-fantasy set up) and a couple more that used to do it but couldn't make it work (ProTrade and One Season).

Basically, no one's been able to pull it off yet. My theory is that unless you invite the ire of regulators you can't actually tie the market to a tangible outcome. Most of the contracts are literally only worth what someone will pay for them "Ohh, I like Durant, I want to buy his 'stock' for $45!" rather than a perceived outcome "45% chance he wins MVP, which closes my contract at $100"

It know that I am probably not the only one having this idea - but I would like to know what some of you guys think of it.

Seeing how the gold price is rising (and in my opinion will continue to appreciate) would there not be a market for gold "credit" cards?

They are plastic cards just as normal credit cards containing a certain amount of gold - they possibly contain a chip so you could cash them in at certain ATMs maybe?

Something like this...seeing how selling your gold can be a hassle and you may be subject to alot of unreputable dealers or banks that give a very bad rate.

The problem is imo. that it probably requires huge capital investment.

Im sick of playing indoor football having 10 players then in the last minute 3 people cancelling or just not being able to get the numbers in the first place. A Sports App local to cities that people can register for, when ever you are short numbers for you weekly game of indoor soccer you can send an an alert saying "need x amount of player ect".

Other idea was a website that interviewers can leave constructive feed back to people who have applied for different job.

That indoor footie problem is widespread for sure, there's room for something in that market.

Other features could include for other similar sports needing participants, maybe a option for amateur teams looking for friendly matches against other teams.

They basically have this is Indian already. You can buy like 100$ of certified gold in a credit card form (case sort of).

Are you saying you put $100 on the card, and then the value on the card goes up and down not only by you crediting/debiting but also based on the spot price of gold?

that ipad app idea is pretty cool. as someone who sucks at cooking but is trying to improve/do it more something simple like that, that is easy to follow, is something i would use (if i had an iPad).

I know it seems like a silly idea (who needs this) but I think it might change the general appeal of gold from "just something old people have sitting in their safes" to something that can be useful, speculative at the same time.

Sorry I don't have a link. I saw it on 60 minutes or 5th estate or some news show. Basically ya you buy a certain amount of gold (small amount) and it comes in like a SEALED credit card case sort of thing...so I say credit card but you couldn't like actually buy anything with the credit card but the gold you buy is certified buy a reputable company and you can trade it in at anytime. I imagine the price goes up and down.

It is a way for the poor and the young to become part of the gold game in India which is huge. Plus it is more tasteful then giving cash

MMA Tycon. You manage a gym which you are a coach, can hire others coaches of different martial arts, buy equipment, if they are unhappy they can leave, etc.

You start small and as your fighters get stronger they go pro, win belts, your gym fame rise, pro fighters start coming, money start pouring and all that.

Edit: Actually there are some already... but it seems that exist room for others. As all I've seem so far suck and are not that well know.

This is a reply to an old post but something I was thinking about is. Who cares how good those algorithms are and who knows. Theres no way of verifying it and most people find mates with nothing of the sort. Its the same thing with Pandora and Netflix algorithms picking movies for you. Sure it sounds fancy but as far as I'm concerned it will look almost the same to the consumer if its spitting out half random things in the genre. I guess this is a long way of saying developing matching algorithms would be really easy.

Matching algorithms are pretty easy. Any undergrad in a statistics-based major should know how to do a pretty decent one before graduation.

The hard part (and it's really REALLY hard) is asking the right questions to lead you to the desired result.

I think the 60sec videos idea is pretty cool.

If you have a good site and strictly limit everything to 60sec. I think a visual wikipedia is a pretty cool idea - I would be very interested in participating.

Yeah there is actually already two big sited that already have the 60 seconds idea, one has nearly every topic saturated and the other does books. They already seem well established, plus as someone said ehow have a lot of video that are just over a minute long.

And probably cheaper than having to go back and forth with packages.
