This makes no sense. But if you realized that, you wouldn't have posted such idiocy to begin with.

Does anyone on here know how to purchase the following:

1) Megacoin (MEC)
2) WorldCoin (WDC)
3) Ripples (XRP)
4) Quark (QRK)

I basically want to gambool gambool it up, but all of my money is on Coinbase/Btc-E, and I'm not sure where/how I need to send it in order to purchase the coins above.

for xrp, you can deposit btc in bitstamp then:

1. buy xrp directly from bitstamp. (bad conversion rate)

2. deposit btc to to your ripple wallet and use the convert feature. (your ripple wallet must trust bitstamp for howevr much btc you're willing to transfer to your ripple wallet, this is standard procedure in ripple)

3. deposit btc to your ripple wallet and use the trade feature to buy xrp for btc. (this is what i recommend, you get the best price of xrp for your btc. also trading is fun. and yes, same as no. 2, you need to trust bitstamp)

edit: just go to advanced tab in your ripple wallet and you will see a label "trust". and set an amount you are willing to transfer from bitstamp to ripple.

if you have questions, go to xrptalk.org. they are more helpful to newbies there than the main forum.

dont know much about cryptsy. i think the volume there blows. as for kraken, it started operating a few months ago. last i checked the volume was low. not sure now.

if you want to trade ghs/btc, check out www.cex.io. it's really a good idea. you get to trade ghs and mine btc at the same time. it's really cool. i should have invested there instead of cloudhashing.

Ummm. We already have a currency like that. It is called regular money.

The reason poker sites don't let you move this regular money directly between poker sites has nothing to do with it being regular money.

Does anyone know what Ripple's price was 6 months ago & 1-year ago?

Would love to see a website where you could look at past prices for all the major alt-currencies.

Ripple is 100% premined, so the price is easily manipulated. Invest 10 mins on youtube before investing in a potential scam currency. Not saying that ripple is scam, but most are.

Ripple is basically going to peg their currency at a reasonable transaction fee deterrent to prevent network spam. It's only a scam when people think they are going to get rich holding Ripples. If the price gets too high, Ripple Labs dumps a bunch to make their product usable. But idiots will trade junk all day hoping to strike it rich.

to better understand ripple, i quote coinseeker from the ripple forum.

Quote:
^^^Typical and fundamental misunderstanding of Ripple, which is pretty common and to be expected from you new guys. (I was once there too.) The best thing RL's has done, is mostly not be influenced by this type of self-serving rhetoric. Ripple is about the payment network first and the built-in currency second. It can be tough on the noobies because they buy up some XRP and really just want to get rich off of it because the extent of their knowledge is speculating on blockchain coins. (Which just isn't rocket science.) They don't care about the payment network and long term success of it, nor do they understand it's importance to the monetary future of the planet. If you want to speculate on digital currencies, my advice, stick with the blockchain coins. At this point in time, that's all they're really good for.

Ripple is about providing a superior payment network and distributed exchange for all currencies and that's largely because the blockchain payment network sucks, as do our current fiat payment networks. Notice none of these goals have anything to do with XRP. I suspect XRP values will increase, by default, as the utility of the network increases but this has nothing to do with "marketing the masses" and everything to do with replacing the archaic, slow and expensive payment rails the world is currently relying on and the oh so limited blockchain payment network. This is what Ripple offers to Joe public, not wildly high XRP values. Don't get it confused.

But you make the point very well on why marketing to Joe public at this time is futile. There's little to do with the network but speculate on XRP values. So, RL's should continue to resist such marketing and continue to focus on marketing only those that will provide infrastructure and utility to the network. Only then will "Joe Public" ever find value with Ripple because most people on the planet don't care to speculate on currencies, they want usefulness. Ripple is all about usefulness and changing the way the world transacts with one another. Not turning the global population into a bunch of digital currency gambling junkies.

read the quote above and keep in mind ripple is not all about xrp.

ripple is definitely not a scam. https://www.ripplelabs.com/investors/ . they probably did their own background check on ripple before giving them millions right? vc's arent stupid.

Not saying they are in this case, but VC's have been duped/done stupid things before. Pretty sure for example they have invested in perpetual motion machines etc. in the past. Lots of money != smart

VC's are really dumb a lot of times when they just try to invest in new technologies that they don't understand. How do you think we got a .COM bubble? They will throw money at stuff and hope some of it hits enough to make it big. Investing in 10 ideas where 5 of them are completely ******ed, but 5 of them are great, and you don't know which is which ahead of time can be very profitable as well. That doesn't mean the 5 dumb ideas are smart investments.

i wouldn't say they make dumb investments. it's just the nature of the game. 8 out of 10 start ups fail especially in the tech sector. ripple included. and they take this risk. but if one pays off, it's in the billions. why do they play this game in the first place. if apple computers failed in the 80's, we would say it's a "dumb" investment by mark markula. and that the concept of computers for ordinary people is.. well, dumb.

but you can't deny that the future of payments would be something like the direction ripple is taking. it could fail, but then again, it could become the standard for payments in the internet. who knows... just keep an open mind and try not to miss anything that could make you a little money. take for instance bitcoin, look at the first few pages of the bitcoin thread. they all didn't get it. i didn't too, because my mind was closed to the idea. today, btc is around 900+ at mtgox as of this writing.

and a bubble isnt a bad thing when all you want is to make a profit. trading is a zero sum game just like poker. we of all people should get this.
