Just picked up a bottle of Dom on the way home from dinner to pop when ETH hits $100. I hope I don't have to drink it in the morning.

I bought a decent chunk of ETH about 12 hours before the DAO hack. Glad I held and only added on after that

Well you have ETH, which OK yes I get it, it has a lot of potential. But right now it has almost zero practical use and has a market cap of almost $10B.

You have LTC, which nobody uses, with a market cap of over $1B.

And Ripple, perhaps the biggest joke of them all, at a market cap of over $3B.

BTC looks to be the only one not in a bubble IMO, and when the others burst $$ will likely flow into BTC.

In the sense that the market leaders right now will be minor players or gone when the industry matures, perfectly possible. No one knows where the long terms value sits and we are seeing the market rise and fall as a whole which makes sense only if you consider people are trying to get overall exposure to the sector.

In the sense that many many ICOs will fail to deliver a product, and many existing products will fail absolutely this is a bubble. Easiest time ever to become a dev millionaire.

In the sense the crypto market cap is overall too high (currently approaching $50b), no that doesn't seem logical. The annual savings which will be realised by banks, insurers, logistics, energy companies using the technology are many times that figure.

So it's kinda contradictory. A safer way to play is to buy the blue chips making early use of the technology as they will deliver shareholder value with cost savings. But then, some say S&P is frothy enough right now. Likewise property. And holding fiat sucks, so what to do...

Not gonna lie. I played the bitcoin bubble and it is exactly like I remember. I told a bunch of people about ETH at $14. Nobody gave a ****. It hits $20, a buddy buys in, other people are starting to take notice. It hits $40, now everyone thinks it's too late and they missed the boat. It hits $60, now their ****ing pissed, they finally buy in at $75 and tell all their friends who also start to buy.

I'm serious, I did this with BTC back in the day and now same thing, I've got 8 people who said they've got a few people on board themselves. My buddies dad in law had him buy him $1k ETH and sent him a text asking for $1k in LTC yesterday when it hit coinbase! This guy had no ****ing clue about cryptos now he's requesting LTC.

All I know is, I don't try and time the crypto markets anymore. So I'm going to hold. I'd essentially just keep buying until at least POS and ETF hit, if that pans out, could be the biggest bubble in the history of history.

WTF is $10 bil????? Snapchat is worth $20 bil+ and loses money. The final product is you can send pictures back and forth. Where's the bubble?

You are right about the practical use, but that stuff will come. It took years for poker sites to adopt bitcoin, and now they have. Bitcoin is now being used practically, and that's what took it off it's lows and started the uptrend.

Just curious based on your posts, what practical use does bitcoin have?

So etf is approved and POS is a success and the bubble bursts?

Yeah, even with the run-up let's keep it in perspective. I really believe it's just the beginning. Hope you bought more Onemoretimes, I remember saying in your real estate thread just throw it in Eth instead (think it was at $~34 at the time! =))

*If* ethereums potential is met, the market cap could easily grow to 500B+ with some people much smarter than me saying 1T+. Obviously there are no guarantees - especially in the cryptocurrency world, but you just have to decide for yourself whether that's worth chancing on when its at ~9.3B already. Personally, I am buying my last bucket later this week (unless it dips significantly in which case I'll scrape up more $ somehow) The reason it's my last bucket is I'll already have quite a bit of exposure and can't afford anymore =|.

But if you believe in it (which I personally do) the plan should def be just hold these next few years (way way past Metropolis, EEA good-news ****, Raiden, ETF approval or non-approval etc. The pipeline is so bright/hasn't even begun to scratch the surface so why sell out early? // viewpoint.

BTC practical use is a functioning crypto-currency and a store of value.

I can securely deposit to and withdraw from poker sites instantly.

I can securely deposit to and withdraw from e-wallets instantly.

I can securely move funds around the world instantly.

2 weeks ago I sent a wire-transfer to Neteller via a foreign-exchange broker. This has been my experience:

- Get deposit information from Neteller
- Forward info to my broker
- Send money to my broker
- Broker sends money to Neteller
- Neteller rejects transfer because they don't allow brokers

My broker and I still haven't received the money back. 5 figures lost in limbo for 2 weeks lol

Never have I been more confident that the demise of the old banking system is coming.

Was the 2013 btc bubble bursting not caused somewhat by a crackdown in Russia/China and then mtgox?

It was popped mainly by Mtgox finally going bankrupt and willybot stopping the buying.

Wallets don't care where the users are from. I like www.jaxx.io for multiple currencies.

It means you can change your fee later if you set it too low and the transaction is taking too long to be included in a block. Not to be a dick, but there are FAQs and other resources such as hmmm say Google you know...

Yes, it was essentially 100% caused by false buying. There might have been a "bubble" regardless, but it wouldn't have been a crash and burn scenario like it was. There would have been legit support.
