Yes, but when is this ever an issue? You make it sound like lesser blockchains are at risk of being dismantled, yet to my knowledge its never happened to anything every mentioned on 2p2. Seems that doge is doing just fine in the security department, same with all the rest.

Regarding LTC, I don't know why people buy such a useless pos. Even the name screams that its the bastard child, and better is available. Without the miracle it got this year - coinbase support, it would easily be out of the top 10. If you want to buy a coin for the luls, just go with doge. It has the internets best meme behind it and has outperformed LTC for a lot of 2017. Doge meme luls therefor have equal-ish value than segwit and coinbase support combined.

What other coins would you suggest pinkmann?

Isn't litecoin, forgetting market cap and how many places take BTC, better than BTC in basically every way?

Already has segwit active and is on road for lighting network.

How does ltc, a non smart contract blockchain, have any chance? Its nothing but a sped up dinosaur that no one actually uses but to speculate on its price.

Rebrand the horrible name and give it rootstock like development, and then I'd be sold.

Agree it's currently not widely used.

Security is super important in the long run, although it may not seem like it now.

Without derivative markets that handle high amounts of liquidity, there's currently very little incentive for anyone to target low security blockchains. But, (and this is a guess) I would imagine that most altcoins could be 51% attacked for <$10 million. Litecoin is not one of those coins.

Came across this podcast today and thought it was really good. Talks about XMR, ETH, and BTC:

Transcript there too.

^ Thanks, read about half the transcript.

Good to see some skeptical thoughts on BTC from someone who actually knows what they're talking about. He made enough good points that I'm prob done adding to my stash for the year.

Bought some LTC at todays dip of $52 because I could definitely see fomo taking this to 60-70 short term. I feel a bit dirty though and definitely looking to get out asap, seems like a miserable long term investment. Pretty much just parlaying my winnings from Waves upswing profit anyway.

lol, got into LTC at like 34 and it hovered around that and lower for the last 2 months.

50s feel amazing.

Agreed. I'm still super bullish on BTC long term, but it's always good to see a different perspective to calibrate your own view from time to time.

They've grown a lot the past year in a pretty clear pump. ICO buyers are up over 500x if I recall correctly. Don't know too much about the platform itself, but seems a bit risky to put in a large position at this point.

Here's a blog post on how one of the top Bitcoin developers got involved with the Stratis project:

How is it relevant that the price is already a lot up since ico? I mean shouldnt we compare the potential to other projects? Like it could be up since it is simply a good product right?

Ok, then use your method. Its cap 10 right now. Lets say it doubled in price, compare it to the projects its up against. Is it worth that much. Is it even worth where its at now...

If you think it is a good buy go for it.

I have some experience using a trading bot (not coded by me) called Gunbot to attempt to generate profits (in BTC) during the past few weeks. Be aware if you're trading you're operating against these kinds of things, and probably better ones. I made a video where I talked about it, among other stuff https://youtu.be/qKJeGaKZc98

Someone sent me info on an ICO called decent.bet. Has anyone heard anything about this? These ICO's are pretty new to me as I haven't really been following what's happening, it sure seems like a scam.

Antshares to NEO rebrand a good thing? It's not exactly a sh*tcoin, but no way it ever competes w ETH outside of China, right?

Would this be the right thread to ask a legal question about starting a digital currency trading business?

Here are a few questions you should ask yourself:
What's the distribution? What percentage of the coins are owned by the top 20 holders? How long have they owned the coins? Did they buy at ICO, or have accumulated recently? How much are their shares worth?

If I see recent accumulation in the top addresses, I could consider buying (if I really liked the coin; in the case of Stratis, I do not). If I see most of the top holders are from the ICO and see that some of them have been gradually moving their coins into the Polo/Trex hotwallets, then I am staying away regardless of how much I like the tech.

There's going to be so many opportunities to make money in the next couple of years. Don't need to pick the one that already made it big and is now looking for bagholders.

IMO it's extremely over-hyped; but it will likely pump in the next bull market with all the other smart contract competitors IF ETH market cap stays in the tens of billions.

People are using it as a safe harbor until dust settles w/ BTC chaos and has a lower correlation to BTC in both price and usability than ETH and its children Alts.

Seems pretty simple unless I'm missing something?
