I'd like to start a thread focused on Amaya's stock.

I know another thread exists that was started when Amaya's stock crashed last year, but how about a fresh one that investors can chime in on and that doesn't specifiically focus on the crash?

I've held for over a year now and it's pretty much where I bought it, primarily due to the whole host of issues the company has had to deal with such as the Baazov scandal, Kentucky judgement, pulling out of several markets, and currency fluctuations.

A few of the reasons I hold the stock:
-Market leader in poker with best in class software and support.
-Low corporate tax base due to Isle of Man incorporation.
-Entry into much larger verticals such as casino and sports leave a lot of room for growth.
-Future growth in the US (although this is moving at a glacial pace).
-Competent Rational Group management.
-New VIP program that will target high margin high rollers in all verticals to launch this year

Some things that concern me:
-High debt load (payments are manageable though).
-Baazov distraction.
-Online poker is shrinking every year.
-Governments are taxing poker at higher rates and ring fencing markets, killing liquidity.
-Constant government flip flops with regulatory regimes (Portugal, Slovenia, Netherlands, Greece, etc...).
-US Dollar strength when almost none of the revenues are in USD but all the debt is.
-Possible gray markets turning black.

It would be great to have a proper discussion about the investment merits rather than "Amaya is evil" type posts.

Also, disclosure about whether you are short, long, or hold no position would also be welcome.

Yeah and funnily enough, if OP is indeed bigsalmon the shares are not too far away from where they did claim to buy in for a high % of their net worth.

no value nor extreme grow, nor compelling price...

I'd pass, there are smarter ideas to make money out there. just because you play poker, that doesn't mean it's the best way to make money.

Why has BMW's stock gotten so crushed the past couple of years and why isn't it a more popular stock? They pay a fat dividend and have great EPS and P/E numbers.

i'm not watching it closeley, but it beats me... and I make the same question as you do, and usually when you have to make these questions, it means that the market is wrong and you have an edge.

imho they get carried away by the negative sentiment of the automotive industry, + the scandal volkswagen, perhaps someone thinks that bmw is cheating too. + negative growth (even if minimal) vs tesla that have positive growth in sales. + perhaps following the german index that is doing pretty badly. € is weak now, so they made more money abroad.

imo below €80 is a good pick... 20 days ago 20% lower was better obv...
