Casual players don't pay much attention to rake. And pros follow casual players.

lol

I remember back in the good old days when WSEX came out with a rake free poker site. They were the toughest games I'd ever played. It was just a small group of pros and bonus whore nits who wet their pants at the thought of rake free poker.

this thread is hilarious btw, it's just a bunch of fish buying a stock based purely on rumors and hysteria and paying no attention to fundamentals or the competence of the management.

Thought I would give this thread a bump

ZNGA down about 24% for the last month of trading

How sick is that

I think this is trading at 15 times forward earnings
which is ridiculously low for a recent IPO.

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ae?s=ZNGA+Analyst+Estimates

Earnings to be released next Wednesday after the bell.

I want to be long going into this earnings release in my opinion

Stay long.... stay strong

Words with Friends is buggy and annoying. You'd think a supposed $bilion game co could do a better job on one of their flagship products.

I still think they have an inside edge should online poker ever make a real comeback.

Their free version of poker already makes more money than almost every other paid game on Android.

How many of their players are under 21 and will bail when real money is involved?

Probably a ton, but how many will join once real money is involved? Not as many but quite a few still.

Then again, we are talking millions and millions of current players, so even a fraction of those could be significant.

I was so wrong about this stock, so wrong, so many times.

that said, I wouldnt bother selling at these levels,

think of it as a longterm option investment with no expiration date.

Ok now is the time to buy zynga!
But from reading a few articles. The management really seems shady and incompetent

I told you when the product stinks that's a sign of something rotten. If a company valued at supposedly $1B at one time can't fix basic UI bugs that have been around for years - that's a very very bad sign.

There is talk that it might sink to $2 or less. Are they competent enough to run an online cash based poker site? Their recent collapse also makes them a target for a takeover.

Zynga up 14% today on no news. Time to buy or time to sell?

I could see this stock being worth $10+ again on a couple of good earnings reports, then again I could easily see today's high the highest it ever gets until it's sold to Facebook for $0.75 a share. Reading the tea leaves is hard on this one.

Earnings report is about to come out. Let's say they stopped their losses and actually turned a profit, and have solid prospects to continue doing that.

What's going to happen to the stock? I seriously think it could go up more than 100% on that because right now the valuation is just their liquid assets. Their business is seen by the market as a liability, not an asset. Once they show they can be profitable that changes and the new value is liquid assets+business, which is a lot more than $3 a share.

Can anyone help me understand the bear case for ZNGA?

What I see when I look at it: tons of cash (and hence low price to book value), a profitable (breakeven?) existing business with potential for growth, with a nice freeroll on the online gambling industry.

What am I missing that makes this less +EV than it seems on the surface?

I don't subscribe to this line of thought, but I think some people are down on the stock because the Company's senior managers were fleeing the company like it was toxic. Also, a lot of people have doubts about the CEO and his leadership ability.

and when i say "nice freeroll" i mean "potentially insanely huge freeroll" on the online gambling industry.

Oh, plus Pincus is a genius, next Bezos imo.
This is kinda funny to read now, after all the negative press their management has gotten.

I got in at 2.50 or so a few months ago. Definitely a long term outlook on this stock but I agree with the sentiment that the upside is very good.

The market views Zynga as in the business of lighting money on fire, basically. Their future growth prospects are questioned, their ability to ever turn a profit is questioned, their management is questioned etc.

They don't have a 'low price to book value' they are valued at their cash + real estate + a double cheeseburger. The rally of the last few days maybe added a bit more but it's still basically nothing for a business that generates over $1 billion a year in revenue.

With the announcement of Gov. Christie wanting to make just minor changes to the bill, should we consider investing in Zynga now? Won't they be first in line more than likely?

For you, absolutely not. It's a very risky stock. Anybody long ZNGA right now knows (or should know) that they could easily lose 50%++ and lose it really quickly. They could also make 4-5x++ but who knows which one it will be. It's very unlikely to be anything in between those two imo.

As a noob you are better off putting your money in a CD or an index fund or mutual fund and if you are going to buy stock(s) buy big, safe companies whose shares don't have a ton of variance. Then study and learn.

There are several threads dedicated to investing noobs in this forum. Read them.
