i think that was exactly his angle and i think that the producers decided to give him a bad edit after they realized that's what he was up to.

Spoiler:
willing to work hard, they are enthusiastic...product sucks ass. Great margins, but infinite companies can copy them, undersell them, etc. The only way I see any value is if they secure exclusive deals with spas/retailers, so they're the only product on the shelf. As I believe was mentioned on the show, you have to have millions to establish a name brand that people know.

Personally, I'm concerned by their enthusiastic spirit. They clearly know nothing about business when making these asinine projections/valuations

Also, using generic letter from the White House....FACEPALM

I think the body jewelry company will be making a killing in 1-2yrs. It already has big celebrity usage and heavy industry exposure. Daymond and Cuban are a good mix for that company. I was wishing I could also invest.

Rent-A-Grandma was lol dumb.

Yea they got run over hard by Daymond. If they came in asking for 80k for 20% they probably negotiate up to 51%.

Honestly surprised Daymond partnered with Cuban he could have got them to agree to his terms on his own merit as no one could compete with his connections in fashion/ maufacturing of clothing. Lol Barbara's tactics, she should throw out an offer or be quite. What you feel about the deal is of no merit as its not her money. Is it me or does she create a man vs women battle every episode?

I'm sorry for you. Seemed so cheesy I was thinking no real person could act like this, these have to be actors.

haha.

i haven't spoken to those guys in years, so what you guys say, i could care less about.

haven't had a chance to watch it, but knowing those guys like I do, I'm not surprised at the comments at all. good looking, enthusiastic guys, but they're dopes.

They did have the like a dopey GI Joe brothers thing going on, but that wasn't the problem. The problem was their delusional sales projections. They also didn't have much of an answer as to why their product was special compared to competition. Their little frat boy huddle thing with obnoxious Nardo chant also made them easy to dislike.

I actually think the dude with the basketball thing had a cool product, but wtff @ asking 500 bucks for that thing.

If he could get it done for 50 bucks, I think it has a market. Although not really a market big enough for a Shark Tank kinda deal.

jewelry deal won't go through with those terms.

Here is a podcast with a long interview with the guy trying to sell his patent on TEC (technology enhanced clothing). His name is Scott E. Jordan. I found it interesting to hear some more about the process.

http://twit.tv/show/triangulation/43

I have a Scottevest coat and I love it.

Jordan confirms that he did not want to bring up the retail company Scottevest at all because he was afraid that the producers could take a piece of it if it even got mentioned by name in a possible deal with the sharks (deal wouldn't even have to go through). He also said that he did not need any funding for Scottevest and it was quite profitable, he was only there for TEC.

I can see why Mr. Jordan would take major offense to being called a "patent troll". To me, patent trolls are people and companies that exist for no other reason than to buy existing patents and use them to get other companies to settle lawsuits. In Mr. Jordan's case, he has an actual company making actual clothes with some great features that certain people love. So I don't see him as a patent troll.

I do absolutely agree that the patent situation in this country is ridiculous. But why attack a guy for using the system as it already exists? Jordan's patent is FAR from the stupidest one ever granted, and besides that it was granted wasn't it? Seems like Cuban's anger was misplaced, and I actually agree with Cuban's position more than I disagree with it.

He could have patented it to protect himself, then not given a crap about anyone else using it. Instead, he decided to sue the crap out of everyone to make money. That makes him enough of a patent troll to consider him a scumbag.

How is it protecting yourself if you don't give a crap about anyone using it...
The Shark Tank Quote

It's making sure someone else can't patent it so you couldn't use it.
The Shark Tank Quote

OK I understand the protection comment then if that's what was meant.

I was just pointing out that the guy has a use for his idea besides suing other people, and he has an actually good product. To me, a patent troll is defined as a non-practicing entity and I don't believe he fits that definition. People are of course free to use different definitions, but I don't put him in the patent troll category.

Their offer for his retail company ($500k for 15%) was way low, and then they lecture him about respect? A lot of back and forth arguing and the deterioration of the conversation was surely edited out, but I see why the guy was starting to get pissed.

Anyway, I'm not going to defend every move this guy has ever made, because I don't know the particulars. Just thought the presentation of the show was slanted against him.

It doesn't matter if he fits into your definition or not. Whatever you call it, what he is doing is ****ty.

K, this is a bit of a hijack, but since we were talking about patent trolls, I'm sharing this story about the infamous copyright trolls who started it all, Righthaven.

This makes me so happy: http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/201...ts-copyrights/

And, to keep on point with patent trolls: http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2012/...oo-patent-lie/
