Some more updates

Scrub Daddy
Obv one of the most succesful products on Shark Tank, got $250m+ in sales. What I didn't know is that the founder had previously sold a company to 3M. Details were not disclosed but he made enough to retire apparantly. He is now working on a high-tech belt which I'm not too sure about: http://www.iontechwear.com/

The Bear & The Rat
Icecream for dogs. Didn't get a deal because it was too soon. Seems like they are doing decent, lot of retail locations in USA and up to date social media/internet presence
http://cooltreatsfordogs.com/about/

SBU/Focus Designs
Unicycle with smart software that makes it more easy to use. Seems like a failure, Amazon store is down and nothing recent to find anywhere or a place to buy them. Bit sad since it seems like a couple of very similar products are now succesful.

Shemie
Product was not very interesting (some female fashion accessory) but it was an interesting pitch since she confessed to being a recovering drug addict that bankrupted her previous company (which was doing the exact same product) (and she was also hot af). She didn't get a deal though mostly due to the company being too young. She started a family, quit the business and got into real estate: http://www.theshemie.com/pages/about-us

Been rewatching lots of eps lately

Coolwazoo: 5 in 1 product that combines various covers used to protect kids. The business had faced a lot of troubles that were solved badly and as a result she didn't get a deal, but she broke down after the pitch and eventually Lori gave her sympathy money. The company got a licensing deal with Kids II, a large company specialized in all sorts of baby products. Other than this licensing deal the company seems dead, no new products. Mediocre success probably. She still looks crazy af.
www.thecoolwazoo.com

Noflycone: Pitch where Seth Macfarelane came in the tank because he was friends with the owner. Natural product to catch flies but that requires dog poop to be on the ground to be used.
Big failure obv, their website doesn't even work (gives me security warning, watch out) and dead facebook page. They are still being sold at some places apparantly but nothing major.

PlateTopper:
Very impressive product to protect food that needs to be stored or transported. Covers plates perfectly and works easily. One of the worst pitches ever because he came in with a 1,8m valuation and eventually changed that to 15m valuation and got everyone but Lori to run away despite loving the product. Eventually Lori rekt him and got a very cheap deal. 2 people had made 1m deals valuing at 5m and eventually she got 8% at 1m valuation
The business seems dead now. You can't order online, website looks terrible, social media is dead. Really weird because this was a really great product. Not even much action going on on Amazon. Dude was too crazy probably. Lori's deal also ended up not going through: http://www.examiner.com/article/shar...h-lori-greiner
https://www.platetopper.com/
His linked in also shows he has a regular job now: https://www.linkedin.com/in/matseng
So sad, that legit seemed a product that could end up being worth millions of dollars.

Nearly Newlywed:
Very professional girl trying to start a business where used wedding dresses can be sold and resold. She didn't get a deal because it was too early (only 4 dresses sold) and some sharks not being sure on the business model.
The business is still going but can't find any good source to see whether it is succesful or not, seems like it's doing al right though.
https://www.facebook.com/NearlyNewlywed/

Tietry: Subscription month to monthly ties & other accessories that are mailed to you and that you can keep for a month. The business got acquired by Freshneck, a business that basicly does the same. Everything points to Freshneck still being a really tiny company, so probably not a big success.
https://twitter.com/tie_try
https://freshneck.com/

Ruckpack:
Energy drink developped by army special forces guy. Got a deal with Robert and Kevin. It became a succesful business, over 10.000 retail locations and they released lots of other products.

Thanks for typing out all those updates, it's super interesting.

I think the Dollops cupcake girl made a huge mistake going with Barbara instead of Mr Wonderful. The frosting goes perfect with Wicked Good's dry mix product line. I doubt there will be any relationship between Daisy Cakes and Dollops other than meeting at Barbara's annual retreat update.

Before their appearance, Wicked Good Cupcakes had 150k in sales over nine months. In the first week after Shark Tank, they did 230k in sales. They did 2.5 million in 2014 and 3.5 million in 2015. This was one of Mr Wonderful's famous 0.45 per jar in perpetuity deals. http://gazettereview.com/2016/04/wic...k-2016-update/

I was surprised the kids didn't get a single offer. They must've had some bad experiences with deals with kids?

S8 started off last week!

Ratings were pretty bad but I'm going to guess this is a show a ton of people don't watch live last few years.

Has anyone found whether S8 has guest sharks? Trailer wasn't clear on that. Episode 1 did mix things up a bit, it's now 6 sharks (=all the recurring sharks instead of someone of missing).

First ep was pretty good

I do not trust that beer thing, feels like something that wouldn't work very well and is scammy to me. Maybe it's becaue I'm Belgian and I can't imagine the USA innovating the beer industry . Has anyone actually used it?

Spoonful of Comfort was one of the saddest pitches I've seen. It seemed like 2 competent people who have somehow convinced themselves that this is a good idea. It's obviously not.

iSlide dude one of the crazier declines ever, he really didn't have much of a magic sauce (=product will be easy to copy, probably already is being copied) except for some minor celeb endorsements and got a crazy valuation anyway. Dude reminded me a lot of a celebrity but I can't figure out who.

ReThink impressive girl; not-sure about the product. Not sure if this will make real money either, even if it has gotten some interest. Also imo the "real bullies" wouldn't give 2 ****s and that the main thing that it would achieve was for "normal kids" to swear less (=swearing less but in non-bullying context). Which I guess is also something.

Watched this last night. One of my favorite shows. I really like watching obviously terrible ideas getting ripped apart by Kevin O'Leary.

I kind of like Spoonful of comfort honestly, but the price point is way too high. And the sharks make a good point, by the time the product gets to the end user the illness will likely have already passed, they need to have overnight shipping and a lower price point, the standard package + overnight shipping is $100 and that's obviously way too high.

Islide seems like a gimmick/fad with an obviously ridiculous valuation. Plus i just hated that guy.

ReThink is absolutely absurd imo, the fact that she got a deal at that level is ludicrous. Seems like one of the stupidest apps ever. Nobody and i mean nobody is ever going to use this. They threw their money away on that one, I am sure about that. This deal made no sense other than maybe investing in the girl, but the product is just terrible.

I believe it was Cuban who said that they could go to the carriers and get them to put it on the phone. They could then sell the phone as "kid friendly" or something and maybe the parents would force the kids to have it activated?

Yeah, pretty much this, unless it's somehow forced on to people by a carrier. The girl was one of the most impressive pitchers they've ever had on the show, but the product is a total dud. I would love to see the details of the research study that she claims shows that 93% of the time people using this app will decide not to send a message upon receiving the prompt. I call complete and utter BS on that claim.

Interesting article about Unshrinkit, the 2 obv bright young people introducing a product to unshrink clothing:

http://www.forbes.com/sites/trangho/.../#6b1b00ee1f1b

As for the success of the business, my guess it is failing pretty hard. The amount of reviews they are getting on ebay and amazon is on a steap decreasing trend, and they are getting very mixed reviews. Very little interaction on social media. Their website also kinda sucks. The store locator doesn't work properly for me, which is either bad luck for me or even more proof that it's failing.

I guess this is the type of issue a lot of people have but only a very small % are willing to invest time or money to fix it.

Hey now! We make some really good micro-brews here in the US and A. Plus we innovated cheap **** beer for college students, so there is that too.

The Fizzics beer system has some decent reviews on Amazon, with most reviews concurring that it gives the beer a nice smooth malty flavor. Some reviewers note that the device itself seems a bit flimsy.

It's on sale on Amazon and I had a gift card, so I ordered one. Will report back in a few weeks.

Noticed Bantam Bagels available at a local Starbucks hundreds of miles away from NYC. Researched it and apparently they struck a huge deal.

In other news, I felt bad for the chocolate guy in tonight's episode. Public speaking ain't easy.

That butter heating/spraying device is sweet. I want one

I don't really think there's a market for that convertible stiletto thing so girls can walk through the grass in heels, but hey I'm a guy maybe I'm wrong.

It felt like he got confused and meant to ask if Lori would match Roberts offer, not Kevins, and then was embarrassed and took a much worse deal

Butter spraying guy looked like he was having a nervous breakdown

Great Murica product (lets spray butter on stuff, yo). I deff want one though, I could see this thing selling hundreds of millions of $ of product if it's really a major innovation. I surely haven't seen a butter sprayer before.

Season starting off great, very low amount of boring pitches. I understand why they're allowing it but they should really be way more strict with allowing kids' pitches on the show. I really doubt getting an investor works out well for many of these businesses and the sharks clearly seem to be making -ev decisions out of emotion when they're on (nothing wrong with that, but it kind of detracts from the show for me personally).

I'm sure the USA has some good beers but when you see what kind of crap is popular or considered good by the mass public you just deserve a little bit of criticism from time to time .

Let us know how you rate the device, would deff buy it just to be able to brag about it to others if it works well .

bbfg - oh yeah, we 'Muricans deserve to be given a hard time for the **** quality of our weak mass-produced beers. Hence the old joke that drinking American beer is like making love in a canoe, because it is f___ing close to water. 😁

I got the Fizzics the other day and finally put it together today. First impression of it is that it's pretty good.

I'm not sure why some of the Amazon reviewers were saying that it is flimsy, as it seems relatively well built. The only part that I might consider subject to breaking is the tap lever on top , though I'd say that I could avoid breaking that by not getting completely ****-faced.

It was easy to put together. Assembly only took about 5 minutes.

My first pour was with a Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. You hold the glass at a 60 degree angle and pour the glass about two-thirds full, then place the glass flat and move the lever backwards for the remainder of the pour.

I actually messed this one up by not reading the instructions, and I did the second step of the pour without placing the glass flat. I think that I ended up with too thick of a head. Even so, the beer had a nice, smooth, creamy head.

I had used too small a glass for this first pour, so there was a beer left in the bottle. I poured the remainder of the beer but didn't have enough in the bottle to do the second step. So this was like I had poured the beer from a bottle without using the device. You can clearly see the bubbles and the lack of cohesion in the head, and the taste was definitely different.

Next up was a New Belgium Tangerine. This time I actually followed the instructions. 🙄

I don't know if it's evident from this picture, but the beer foam looked thick and almost like chocolate milk as it was coming out of the spout.

I was treated to a beer with a sweet and smooth head.

The only possible downside that I noticed is that this device seemed to take a bit of the edge off of the Dogfish Head, as some Amazon reviewers noted is the case with IPAs.

Only time will tell, but my initial impression is that the Fizzics is going to be a nice addition to my drinking and entertaining repertoire.

EDIT TO ADD: I saw on Amazon at least a couple of other devices that are competitors to this device. I have never used any of those devices or even heard of them for that matter, so I have no comparison as to how the Fizzics stacks up to the competition.
