The Shark Tank

An awesome show where entrepreneurs pitch their ideas to millionaires and billionaires and hope they get the finance.

Watching it was exciting because I felt like I was in the negotiation room myself. It's also a great learning experience.

Highly recommended.

I love that show!

Some guy tried to pitch this to the Sharks last week.

Re: The Shark Tank

Great show. It's a remake of a Canadian show called dragons den.

http://www.cbc.ca/dragonsden

You can watch old episodes on their site if you want more of the same.

Re: The Shark Tank

The "contestants" give up a 2% royalty just to have the ability to pitch their business. The contestants rationalize this fee due to the free publicity.

Didnt realize this was the case, but it probably is worth the publicity. Pretty good deal for ABC (I assume they are the ones who collect this fee?)

Re: The Shark Tank

I watched the first episode only because I follow Mark Cuban on twitter and he said he was going to live tweet his thoughts during the show. I thought it was pretty awesome, I have now added the show to my DVR lineup

Re: The Shark Tank

the bald guy is great for the show but it's crazy how transparent his strategy of lowballing the **** out of everyone really is.

he literally throws out a crap offer and tries to pressure the person into accepting it ASAP. might just be for TV, but if not, it'd really turn me off from working with a guy like that.

Re: The Shark Tank

like others have said, if you guys like the show you should watch dragons den on cbc instead. better done, more about the business, less about the people. Also the dragons have more use. A real estate investor? how is that helpful for VC?

I'm unable to watch the old episodes because I'm not from Canada. Any other way around this?

Re: The Shark Tank

Have to agree...love this show! I liked the guy that Cuban replaced, but I think Cuban is a lot better for TV. Not sure the show would be quite as successful if the Sharks didn't have a great chemistry...love the banter.
