Re: Ridiculous rental scenario...

wow OP, you been royal ****ed here. congrats for using a modicum of restraint, instead of rallying the troops to throw them rednecks off your home.

document all you can, and after you're relocated use all the resources in the provincial system to get some form of redress. I wouldn't go so far as to hire a lawyer though, you could end up flushing away more cash for nothing in return.

Wow, here's a juicy detail I just found out from the old landlord: the new "owners" don't even have possession yet. She hasn't received her money. So, these people were really really really out of line.

Police came by a few minutes ago to follow up on the call we placed to them and also it seems that the new "owners" had phoned the police a few days ago to tell them we were trespassing. Cops told them the same thing they told us: civil matter.

Anyway, the new "owners" haven't been around since I told them about RTDRS, what our rights were and that they weren't to come on the property without 24 hours written notice.

Almost everything has been moved out. Few odds and ends to pack up yet and then just some cleaning to do and we're gone.

rothko,

Great job so far. You've really handled this very well. As an aside, when I read these threads I always feel outraged and want revenge (i.e.: upper decker, fish in the vent, etc.) but then I think of the possible consequences and it probably isn't worth it. Its -EV for you for sure, but some revenge would be very funny for the thread, especially with pics.

Actually no, that would only hurt the original owners as it appears the new "owners" are just trying to get a free property to stay it.

OP just move your stuff back in and stay there, try to work out a deal with the original (current) owners to extend the lease.

If somehow the sale goes through (sounds very unlikely now) then yes, upper deckers before you leave, and a random night-trip once a month or so to disconnect their power and water!

I expect the sale will go through. Probably just took a little longer to get the funds and the planned possession date of July 1 was simply delayed.

Anyway, ima outta here. Whatever happens is between them.
