When facing an issue of confidence like that, you must be swift and decisive and reassure the people involved. You don't want to add confusion. Everything in our economy is based on confidence, and not saving Lehman at that time made the situation worse.

I don't think the general public had any idea how close we came to the entire system collapsing. Money markets broke the buck. It could have been catastrophic, and I don't say that lightly.

*actually pretty detailed but without the formulas

Can anyone recommend some software for investment/asset account tracking? I've got money all over the place (not a lot, just spread out) and I'd like to be able to track it in one place. I used Quicken a while ago, is that still the best place to go? Budget/money management tools wouldn't be bad either.

Thanks

Take a look at Mint.com. It consolidates everything into one place and allows you to set budgets, etc. along with looking at trends of a lot of different topics and keeps track of your income and spending as well.

Try personalcapital.com also. It's basically Mint but with an emphasis on investing and following portfolios. It's free and really well designed.

Th Profit

This show is a great, not only for businesses but stock investors. This is one of the best shows on t.v. too. Much more interesting and entertaining than most reality shows. Furthermore you can watch them for free and if you have a 2nd computer you can hook it up to big screen. This might be the future if you want to get rid of cable. Also you can get a chromecast. These shows have a weird ending though.

I'm not a poker player anymore, but I noticed an interesting trend... More and more poker player start trading, but many of them don't know how. The same problem had a good friend of mine (good poker player).

Then I saw an article in the Harvard Business Review. "The traders who had the right balance and diversity of ideas in their network had a return that was 30% higher.”

I wrote an article about it, and my friend have reached out to me and thanked me. I was wondering, is this something that you might be interested in?

I’m surprised by the fact how many poker player could make money in trading (Academic Research)

Hi,
I'm looking for a book about how to form trading strategies. Not about specific indicators but about how to combine your technical view with your fundamental view to build a strategy.

Any suggestions?
Cheers

Th iis just a blatant move to get a little bit of traffic to your site the has ads to social trading.

Mods should remove this. This thread offers good advice so far and social trading is not one of them

This newsletter is comes in pretty handy when it comes to generating ideas in where, when or how to invest.

http://www.utrnewsletter.com/

It helped me quite a bit, I would recommend people especially new investors to take a look.

I think it's pry irrelevant that it's for poker players. investing is the same for everyone, he mentions how to not go broke, and not make mistakes, well that's relevant to everyone no matter what ur occupation. sounds like a budgeting book, I'm sure there is better material out there, I think the author was simply hoping to strike a niche and earn some cash but in reality I'm sure there are way more qualified persons writing the same thing.

Just tossing in a one-time heads-up ITT about a thread I started in the Lounge that I'm excited about (or...at least I'm hoping to be, if others want to be a part of it). I'm taking a re-read through Think and Grow Rich, but this time hope to do it with a 'study group' / live-blog thing. So check it out and post in that thread if you want to give it a whirl.

I'd like to post my blog here. It's about my experiences in prop trading and trading in general (I also traded bitcoin extensively, at least several months ago). My trading bankroll was built from a $20 grubstake on Pokerstars back in 2004 and I owe that to 2+2 so I thought I'd give back a little bit.

http://ptotrading.blogspot.com/

I tried to make it different than run-of-the-mill trading blogs that just post charts and/or recaps, as in make it more story driven than instructional. I do try to be as informative as possible too.

One of my first posts is about the Mansion freeroll bet that I learned about through the SB forum here: http://ptotrading.blogspot.com/2014/...-freeroll.html

This post covers my largest loss and has material on momentum trading, reading order flow, trading OTC/Pink sheet names, psychology, etc: http://ptotrading.blogspot.com/2014/...ey-part-i.html

Happy reading.

So you can either watch this YT video teaching you more about the nature of reality and entrepreneurship in < 14 mins, or pay tens of thousands of dollars towards an MBA or go waste your money listening to charlatans like 'Tony Robbins'. This should be the most watched video on entrepreneurship in history but most will never find out about it. 10/10 to the person who put this together. You've nailed it.
