Here's what I've read so far:

Value Investing Books:

Intelligent Investor
You can be a stock market genius
Margin of Safety

Dhando Investor
Little Book that Beats the Market

The bolded were probably the best out of that group with Margin of Safety by Klarman being my favorite and is a must read imo.

Others:
Moneyball
Liar's Poker
The Big Short
Soros on Soros
Fortune's Formula

Moneyball and Fortune's Formula were really interesting. I didn't like Soros on Soros.

Isn't it enough that high priests of EMH like Merton and Scholes thought money could be made buying and selling misplaced securities?

Ya, it is. I should have worded my post differently. I don't actually need to be convinced that mispriced securities exist but I would like to know a lot more about how and why the market fails to be efficient and how best to take advantage of it.

My reading list currently stands at:

Security Analysis by Graham and Dodd
Expected Returns by Antti Ilmanen
The Essays of Warren Buffett

What should I add?

Hello everyone, I'm complete noob in trading, just read a few basic articles to understand the concepts, and I'm looking to get into forex and trading cfd-s.
I am looking for specific information on that matter, there is just so much info in this thread and I don't know where to start.
Advice much appreciated.

Daily, there are 2 things I read to keep up with the market:

The Gartman Letter (free trial available... A savvy individual can continue getting this)

And, as mentioned Paul Krugman's articles and blog. A cynical approach here can help to form a solid, investable macro picture.

BBG/WSJ/FT when you need an article or two--I find these far less investable than the above 2.

The books list around here is already pretty comprehensive.

I saw Greenblatt talking about his new book on CNBC. It seems like it's pretty much a pitch for some new "value weighted" mutual funds, where it's like indexing but instead of market cap weighting you weight stocks based upon value metrics. The book is about 150 pages and Greenblatt is an entertaining writer so it might be worth checking out.

yeah I heard its similar to his magic formula book, so I might not bother. Id really like him to write something like You can be a stock market genius again, but ive heard him say in interviews it was too advanced for the public.

I've read Greenblatt's new book. It's a very convincing argument against market cap weighted indexes. If you listen to his interview and think through it yourself for a while you really don't need the book. It's half a basic introduction to the stock market, half an argument for equally weighted or value weighted indexes. The argument is solid, but really not all that complicated. I was hoping that the book would follow his argument to it's logical conclusion and flesh out his thoughts a lil more, but I was dissapointed. The logical conclusion from his thinking would be a kind of reverse market cap weighted index, but he didn't even touch that.

Read if you want to be convinced that market cap weighted indexes are fundamentally flawed and should be replaced by indexes with different weighting methods. Otherwise waste of time and money imo.

Can someone recommend some more intense books on value investing for me? I'm a finance student and have already read the basic stuff. Now I'm looking for more.

Can anyone recommend a book on the state of the upper class in America?

This book would ideally go into some detail about the wealthy class from an economic perspective, including some informed speculations about the future of the wealthy in the United States given the direction of our present economy. Perhaps the gap between rich and poor...etc...

Anything even vaguely close to this topic would be greatly helpful!

Hey,

What would you recommend for knowledge on M&A, IPOs; ie. corporate finance? I'm looking for sort of an introduction but also more advanced than basic principles of corporate finance (i know of stuff like wacc, dcf, eva, capm, (simple) options pricing).

Thanks.

Gonna read Tim Koller's Value this week - hope it's interesting.

Hey are there any decent articles or blogs or opinions focused on the federal debt ceiling and the concerning fiscal responsibilities related it?
