Bingo. Depending on how much you paid them, they may have signed you up for it. Or, they modified one of their listings to link to you.

google ssl is screwing people more and more with every day passed, Any solutions come to anyone's mind?

greedy ****s. you just need to pay them 150k/y to see the referal information. How hupocritical to state that you make a change to enforce privacy and yet still sell a product that makes your "solution" obsolete.

You don't even get it for $150K premium analytics. It's only passed on when you get an adwords click.

The whole situation is rather comical.
"We're protecting you by keeping data private!"
"Oh wait, this guy is an advertiser? Here's the data!"

THANK YOU!

Except this is just the latest in a long line of crap they do. It's completely fine for them to make profits and they certainly have no obligation to release any of the data they collect, but their pristine reputation has to go. Facebook gets trounced for collecting data that Google already has.

It's hilarious talking to the Google reps. They know so much about your porn habits it's unreal.

alternative to GA? Piwik Though I'm not sure what people mean about ssl and missing referrer data...

Missing referrer data in Google Analytics:
  • User signs into Google account
  • User searches on Google and clicks a result
  • Webmaster looks in Google Analytics and sees Google as the referrer with the search phrase being "not set". If the user wasn't logged in, the phrase they used to find the site would be present.

Google states that ~10% of searches are logged-in searches (and growing), which means webmasters have a black hole in their data. Why did this person come to my site? What are they interested in? It's important to know so the webmaster can improve the experience.

But this data is available as long as the user clicked an AdWords ad to reach the site. Then it's totally cool with giving away user behavior and information because Google got paid for it.

Yup unfortunately Google's PR team did a fantastic job on that one, hard to get mainstream support.

Anyone know much about using unicode chars in meta descriptions/titles? Has Google ever punished websites for it?

I've seen a weird on on a SERP today:

ส็็็็็็็็็็็็

Search for 'cool unicode chars' in Google. Makes it stand out, I'm not saying this is one that should be used (as it obviously interferes with the page a lot which Google wont like) but I've seen others used cleverly that could make listings stand out, and am wondering why it's not more widespread.

Fistdantilus self-banned himself so I can't get into contact with him. We were exchanging PMs.

If anyone has his email/Skype, please PM me.

Thanks!

I'm sure there are better things to focus on than relying on gimmicks in your SERP listings.

[I've had that character as my location for about 2 weeks now]

I think this might've been asked here before. Does anyone know of best place to go or best way to go about negotiating prices for bulk domain buying? This particular company/service buys about 3-4k domains/month.

So I've used godaddy.com to register my domains before. I don't want to anymore because of their support for SOPA. What is a good, cheap registry site?

Namecheap is great. You get free 1 yr whoisguard too. The signup process is very easy.

Thanks.

I'm looking for sites that aren't e-commerce and have simple front page like dropbox.com.

Heard good things about www.resell.biz and their prices are lower than anything else I've seen. Not sure if you can negotiate even better prices, but it's worth contacting them with such high volume I'd say.

NEVER use godaddy. Google 'godaddy horror stories' and you will see why.
