I have a question, if anyone could help it would be appreciated! We just relaunched our online arcade, and one service we have for free is an XML file with ALL our arcade games in it with the intended use being that webmasters use it to embed our games on their websites. An embedded game is good for us as it forces a 10 second advert at the start of each game, we have full control over it and could possibly serve paid ads at some point.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to publicise this service? I'm pretty sure it would be useful for a lot of people (free good quality content). For example, I've never used WP, would an arcade WP plugin that uses this XML list be possible/useful? Or is that a clumsy idea?

I think it's a pretty good idea. After a quick search, I found 4 WP arcade plugins that have been downloaded 3,000 - 15,000 times.

X-Post from programming forum:

For anyone who has domains registered with GoDaddy, they have come out publicly in support of SOPA so people are transferring their domains away from them en masse. Seems like a great idea to me. Lots of discussion about this on Hacker News & Reddit.

Here's a step by step guide on how to transfer your domains to another registar http://blog.jeffepstein.me/post/1462...out-of-godaddy

SOPAsucks is one of the codes: http://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comment...eap_sopasucks/

I was literally going to post that here but saw you beat me to it

I followed that guy's directions (and used his affiliate link since he did a nice writeup) and it's going well. Just waiting on GoDaddy's transfer domains feature, which could take a few hours before I can do so.

NameCheap's flow was very simple and easy to use. I used SOPAsucks as the coupon. 10 domains for $75 or so. Well worth it. **** GoDaddy; this should be the first thing anyone does who cares about Internet privacy.

I hate GoDaddy but have a **** load of domains there due to GoDaddy Auctions.

I probably can't be bothered transferring anything now, though. Seems like a waste of time just to show that you're against something they are for.

Maybe I didn't read enough of the article, though..

A waste of time? How about denying them registration money? Or supporting a business who is anti-SOPA?

It will literally take you less than 10 minutes to transfer to another host (namecheap anyways) and will make a measurable difference. That is the exact opposite of a waste of time.

I have about 150 domains there.

If the above price is correct, I'm not about to spend over a grand just because I'm against a policy that they are for.

Whatever, /end derail.

Then transfer only expiring ones and don't renew them there?

This isn't a derail, since this is the defacto catchall thread for SEO/Internet business.

Hell hath no fury like a Reddit scorned. Best of luck boys I'm supporting the cause as my domains roll over.

I Can Haz etc will take their 1000+ domains elsewhere.

Anyone have a referral for a good graphic designer, for a direct mail postcard? One side is pretty much done. May need some very minor adjustments in font/format but we need help with the front side. Also, artwork needs to be finalized and submitted to the mail place by next Thurs.

I got a random call from them yesterday thanking me for my business and asking if there was anything I needed help with. I only have like 8-10 domains registered there but one of them I've had for coming up on 8 years. Anyway I assume I'm somewhat of a small customer for them but I wonder if they are going on a customer relationship campaign given the backlash to their sopa support?

I have a sport social network site up and running, im unsure of marketing or copyright rules on the net, to fill content down the right hand side of my page i have a running news feed of said sport from a very high end news site which i just paste the URL ( if u click the title of the news it takes you to that site) it looks great and is just what my site neeeds, my guess is im not allowed to do this? but at the same time when someone clicks the tilte of the news it takes them to that well know sports site so they cant really be that angry at me?? am i missing a trick here then as i no nothing about online marketing. can i get a news feed that when clicked i actuallly make money?

There have been quite a few reports (over the last couple days) of them calling people to check in after the cancellations. Trying to do damage control I guess.

Use fake whois.
Explain this further, maybe i didnt understand the context. I have a number of domains registered using domainsbyproxy through godaddy. Are you saying that privacy , really isnt?

On a another note, i ive been contemplating changing registrars for sometime, one of the issue i have is that i understand that during the transfer process , information that is now private , through domainsbyproxy would become public for at least a short period of time( meanbign that there will be a record of actual ownership somewhere) during the transfer.

Is that correct?
Is there a way transfer registrars and keep privacy completely during the process?

He means that Google can have access to the name of any domain owner. The public will see whatever the private whois information shows but Google (supposedly) can see the real registration information because they're a domain registrar.

99.95% webmasters need not even worry about it.

Saw this listing and thought it looked like the kind of site I would be interested in.

I haven't done any research into this one other than reading the listing so if you are serious, do your own due diligence.

He's probably getting tons of DCMA request. You have to pay licences fees to post lyrics now a days. I think this also applies to guitar tabs which is pretty ridic but it is what it is.

Since he doesn't mention the copyright issues in his descriptions I would be vary to do business with him.
