So a person from a business network site contacted me about this opportunity to acquire a $10 million dollar bank guarantee from HSBC, for 12% face value, he would then sell the BG to an already agreed on price ($5mill) with a BG buyer in HK with a reputable bank and pay the full amount back to the BG provider which was owed on the 12%.

He needs $100k from me which would be put into a escrow account in a highly legit escrow, and only till he receives the BG from HSBC will the funds from escrow be released. He needs the 100k to secure the $10 mill BG from the provider.

I read that Bank guarantee transactions like this do exist but only a select few actually know real connections to do this. He expects to profit about $2mil after all costs and will send me $500k. His done other deals in the business site I knew him from and has quite good rep, he says he knows this is legit because he has talked with a colleague of his who successfully pulled it off before. He says he can provide the CUSIP numbers for past successfully transactions his colleague has done and can confirm with Euroclear.

He is more then willing to meet up in America where we can talk with the escrow service.

I don't believe in the "if its too good to be true" thing, made all my money from the opposite. But this seems ridiculous, if its true then we are living in a simulation server, that's for sure.

Why does he need your 100k if his colleague did this successfully before?

How did you make your money? And how often does the simulation theory affect your decision making?

no real idea what monetizing a bank guarantee means.....

but assuming that it's legit and fairly low to medium risk why does he need you to help him with it?

if it's something legit i assume there's 100's of hedge funds that could help him for alot less than he's probably promising you.

while i'd love for someone to give me $100K tomorrow it's a miniscule sum in the real world of finance.
