Re: June 2012 Trading Thread

Haven't been able to trade for a few weeks. ThinkorSwim scanning has been down

I really hope this gets fixed soon because I can guarantee there are a lot of sick setups out there.

Lay off the LPR too. That's the kind of talk that gets you banned.

Re: June 2012 Trading Thread

Jokes aside, your good for the thread. You got banned and there was no posts in here for 3 days. Your back 24hrs and people are reading again.

Lay off F'king LPR. A lot of people bought it and got burnt. Don't have such a frail ego that you have to type brag posts the 1 in 5 times your right .

Besides permabear is a good screen name for you. (Who helped you think of that by the way???).

Sux man, There are a quite a few set ups both long and short. What do you think of a GOOG short in the near future?

Traders are speculating that FB has bottomed. (I think they are wrong, but whatever). Also I think they're was some positive research on the effects of advertising on FB

It's possible that the selling is exhausted for now (I agree w/ savant, unlikely, but still possible).

Also I think the Apple event detailed Facebook integration into ios6, that's potentially pretty good news for them.

Re: June 2012 Trading Thread

I love how I called out NFLX being worth around 45-55 dollars last year and got ridiculed for it.

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...4&postcount=48

NFLX fundamentals have changed. It's making less money, meaning it's worth even less now.

Can someone give me a quote on long-dated USDHKD ATM call options? I'm exploring if it is feasible to play Bill Ackman's long Hong Kong Dollar trade. Cliffs here

Re: June 2012 Trading Thread

Question for the community:

Im comfortable enough trading now that I'm going to rollover one of my IRA accounts online to trade.

Apparently you can't short in an IRA account. What are some decent trading securities in a bear market to go long in? I know i could go long TLT or GLD if the timing is right. Are there any inverse ETFs that are less dangerous to trade? HighStakesFan I know you like the inverse ETFs perhaps you can offer your opinion?

I've never traded an option before nor do I really want too as learning to trade securities is hard enough. Is options trading something that is necessary in an IRA account if you want to be active during downtrends?

Also fwiw I'm not totally closed to just sitting out in cash during downtrends if there aren't suitable alternatives. Thanks.

Re: June 2012 Trading Thread

Update: LONG LNKD JUN 100/95 Vertical Put Spreads

I am holding on to this position till expiration LNKD is currently trading @ 94.67. Estimated return after commissions: 374%

NEW TRADE: LNKD AUG 80/70 vertical put spreads:

Buy AUG 80 Put @ 4.6
Sell AUG 70 Put @ 2.28
Cost per unit: debit of 2.32 = ~23.2% width of the spread.
Potential profit per unit: (10- [4.6-2.28]) = 7.68

Today I opened another put spread on LNKD because the stock still trades at an P/E multiple of 586.63, which is rich imho. In addition, LNKD has been outperforming FB drastically without any clear reasons. I believe that mean reversion could be expected within the coming two months. Therefore a bearish structure has been initiated.

Favourable skew and potential macro economic risk should allow for an interesting trade, especially with this risk reward structure. Do note that this is essentially a risk free trade as I roll my premium from the previous put spreads into this new structure.

I do not recommend someone getting involved with inverse ETF's for many reasons.

.

I sometimes get involved with leveraged inverse ETF's, but i'm not too bright

Thumbs up Re: June 2012 Trading Thread

It appears permabear has gone into hibernation.

Such a pity, he was an inspiration to us all.

He will be sorely missed by all
