Start a roofing company on the side right away. Do you do flat roof tar + gravels or do u work on shingles?
I know the guy from Toiture Expert, he does 3-5 roof jobs a week starting April all the way into October / November. All charging 10 000+$.
I'm not sure how much he nets each day, but I just know after talking with him that after 20 years of the business, after he's bought all his tar machine + boom truck, he's making a killing.
It's hard the first 5 years though. Expect to not buy a house for next 2-3 years. You have to skrimp and save so you can buy the bigger machines.

Doing flat rood would require to much of money to startup granted its much more profitable, the cost for a person in my position just is 2 high.
I live In laval and my projected area wou8ld be North-shore and Montreal ( west-island is a gold mine)
About price per sqft.. On a low slope of 4-5"/12 Price would b about 2.3/2.5 sqft assuming single layer ripoff, 6 feet of ice/water shield rest is black #15 felt then you had in some extras 200$ for a chimney 3$/linear ft of Valley/sizing. 150$/ ventilation unit. rest is included ( plumbing vent and stuff) that include regular type of shingle ( Bp Mystic / Gaf Timberline) which cost 22-24$/ bundle ( covers 32sqft )
The steeper the slope the higher I charge. IWould probably charge a lil more per sqft in montreal compared to laval
