Of course it's a publicity stunt. Paddy Power does this a couple times a year on various events. They haven't been right 100% of the time, but they always do it on huge favorites.

What happened to your other account?

What is happening on the TV in Greece?

You said earlier in the thread that you wanted Greece to stay in the euro. Why? Seems to me the best thing for Greece's future would be to go back to the drachma. Default on ALL the debts to the troika and start fresh. You could still stay in the EU, just not share the currency. The alternative is never-ending bailouts and austerity and depression. What do you think?

The old people know receiving 20-10% of a pension is better than no pension at all. Default would only be better for the young people and they don't vote in the numbers that the old do.

20-10% of the majority of the pensions atm would be 80-40 Euros (per month).

A packet of cigarettes cost about 4 euros and a single bottle of water (1.5L) cost 1 Euro. If now they own their house (which would be the best of the cases) they ll have to pay at least 25% of their pension for real estate taxes. If there is ONE group of people that (should) have no reason at all to vote for Yes it would be the "old people", on the other hand this group of people is the easier one to manipulate through media so their state on this is still very questionable.

yeah their liability was probably low three figures.

Is there a list of bets that Paddy paid out early somewhere? I am very curious about their track record, especially vs. the odds they were offering at the time.

They gave a freeroll on Oscar Pistorius trial in 2012

PP money back if Oscar Pistorius is Not Guilty

Guilty is 1/3 Not Guilty 2/1

"money back if he walks"

They just work out how much it will cost and send out the press release.

Off the top of my head, Paddy paid early on Obama winning in 2012, Chelsea winning champions league, and Australia winning the Irish Champion stakes (wrong on the last one; he lost by a nose despite being an overwhelming favorite).

Polls have been crazy on the referendum. Honestly no idea which way this will turn out now.

its really weird what happens cause "everyone" thinks "yes" is ahead (which probably is) but there is NO way that the outcome is gonna be crystal clear (meaning like more than 10-15% difference), another thing that makes me sceptical is that there are completely NO polls going on in Greece (just some non-formal online polls) where in other type of elections we get bombed by at least a hundrend of them during the last week before voting.

It's more about the publicity gained versus the size of the book rather than how certain the result is. Their politics book is tiny, I suspect it's just a loss leader.

first polls are out and the difference is less than 1-2% , is "YES" still ahead according to the bookies?

Yeah, betfair lines are at roughly 63% chance that the referendum ends with a "YES" majority atm.

Not today (holy day where we worship a bit of cloth and dead people who used to wear funny wigs), but you could trade Greek ADRs (http://www.investopedia.com/terms/a/adr.asp) in the USA all week.

Stay safe.

lol, found that particularly funny cause its exactly the same thing I 've told to the friend that sent this to me. Though between some opinions there are also included some facts concerning this wave of new-liberalism that suddenly is all over EU and somekind of "elit" running business all over Europe with devastating consequences for millions of people.

oh well, looks like the no has got it. GL Greece, enjoy exporting your **** to Moldova. I hope Merckel asks for a referendum herself as a big **** you to Tsipras. What the hell is this asking your countrymen if they want better terms or not on a bailout deal.
