If there were no bias, the female candidates wouldn't need to perform better on average in order to reach those positions.
Or sexism in the workplace means capable women have had less opportunity to demonstrate it previously while the more capable men have and so aren't available for the same job. If that was the case we would expect women who look equally capable to outperform men when given the same opportunity.

This is no comment on trump in particular where it may in fact be the case that equally capable looking women aren't hired so much in the first place

- Meg Whitman (decent, but let's be honest: basically a man)

Are there any good ones that I'm forgetting? I would think there would have to be some pretty good ones in retail, but nothing is really coming to mind.

Here are the ones that I can think of:
- Rometty at IBM (bad)
- Marissa Mayer (bad to terribad)
- Carly Fiorina (ex CEO, but undeniably terribad)
- Meg Whitman (decent, but let's be honest: basically a man)
- Irene Rosenfeld (who Warren Buffett basically called an idiot, and that's coming from Warren motherf*cking Buffett, who is quite possibly the nicest human being alive)

Saying Marissa Mayer is terribad is an insult to people who are terribad. She's about 3 steps worse than that.

I worked for Meg for a while, as did my wife...

She's basically a consultant, and has no business running a technology company. You can argue that eBay and HP aren't really "technology" companies, but when the bottom line is highly correlated to technology innovation and technical roadmaps, having some semblance of technology is important.

She doesn't.
