I got washed out of my DRYS stop loss yesterday. Right before they finished Greece plan :/.

Anyway, what do you guys think of NEI? The company have decent revenue and income for their price. Their management is meh, but their earnings are pretty good with a eps of .8x

I found two efts: CRUD for wti and BNO for Brent. Obv the prices are different than the actual futures but do the etf prices mov the same on a percentage basis as the actual futures?

in on HNRG and NCIT after a couple of days. So far, so good.

HNRG - Hallador Energy. Had some very good % returns on equity&assets as well as profit margin last year. Been in the business for 60 years based on some coal mine in Indiana. Seems promising.

NCIT - Govt contracted IT service. Had dipped substantially off of highs of ~30 within the last couple of years down to ~7.50 right now. They're financials have gotten worse in 2011 (barely making a profit it looks like), but they seem to have enough of a foothold in the market as well as previous connections to projects, which may threaten getting a big contract to boost things in the future. They just won a $5m contract recently, and seem stable enough going forward.

Doing a school project on Amazon. They have a quick ratio of only 0.82 and a current ratio of only 1.2. Huge accounts payable. Our bankruptcy prediction model predicts a probability of bankruptcy of 28%. Don't believe it, but very interesting.

If anything it does illustrate that the current valuation is unreasonable.

If you think the management is crooked for other reasons you are probably right (and I don't doubt it). However, your logic in the previous post in my view, very flawed. Using that logic you can probably say NFLX and MCP have crooked management (and probably a few hundred other names).
Yeah, NFLX management has a history of making deals with themselves and then canceling those deals paying a few hundred millions dollars worth of canceling fees to themselves.

I usually only look at crude oil futures symbol should include CL (regular contract) or QM (mini contract). If I want to play options I play USO United States Oil Fund, chart almost looks identical to crude oil futures. USO you can bring up in freesctockcharts.com (don't know how to bring up the futures in freestockcharts never tried it, USO should do the trick for crude oil).

just woke up from my nap, this is what i dreamed (abridged)

i was watching the Lakers while trading. I was trading the PER (player efficiency rating) and I got 'short' the PER of this guy named marlon (laker). he had long arms and was ailing, but his PER would just not fall. also scottie pippen scored 38 points with 4 rebound and 4 assists. anyways for some reason his PER was directly tied to the weather (warm weather would cause it to fall). I was also short a lot of corn. on tv at the laker game, they showed some ice that had a hole in it and they stepped on it and it cracked, meaning the weather was getting warm. it started a mass panic that resulted in a huge drop in his PER and the price of corn. i was also outside and the entire ice around me was starting to crack, i had to get inside or i would go through the ice, i got inside and watched the storm and was so happy about my profits.

was nuts

the weirdest part by far was that I vividly remember Pippen's statline.

Anyone familiar with ARR? It's a reit with a double digit dividend yield. Seems almost too good to be true but it seems to have a lot of institutions behind it. Not a whole lot of information is out there about it though. If this has been discussed before, my bad. Too lazy to search and haven't been all that active the past few months.

Everyone in GRVY - do you have a price target (and if so how did you get there) or is it still a book value / cash per share / free option on RO2 play for you?

Not sure what you mean by dream. Guessing you're being sarcastic. If you'd care to explain, that'd be awesome because I know basically zero about these TWO guys. (zing!)

Was referring to a different post about the dream. Was referring to the literal dream.

I like it. IMO, Steve Wynn has always acted in the best interest of the shareholders. Supposedly, this Okada guy was making "improper" payments to public officials in Asia for a project he was working on. Basically, (esp according to Durrs view of business and corruption in Macau) this is modus operandi for the region.

I like that Wynn is being proactive in shielding itself from future liability (Foreign Corruption Practices Act). It may go through some litigation in ousting Okada, but Wynn actually is one of the few companies that should be able to do so.

From the WSJ: "In 2002, Wynn became the first casino company to add a clause that allows the board itself to declare a shareholder unsuitable, according to a person familiar with the matter. The language grew out of an earlier agreement Mr. Wynn and Mr. Okada drafted when Mr. Okada was under regulatory scrutiny in Nevada, the person said."

All in all, I like Wynn's proactive handling of the situation and I think it's in the best interest of the shareholders and the company going forward.
