Facebook's (FB) forced timeline conversion, will it hurt them further??

Logged into facebook today and saw that I have been forcefully timelined.
I made a statement months ago that I would quit facebook if ever forced to.
Most are not as extreme as me, but i do see this being as a last straw for a good amount .. agree ? disagree?

I have a week left.

I dont have timeline and havent been forced yet. I also jokingly made that statement to myself that I would quit if forced, I guess only time will tell how strong I am in my still convictions. I don't think too many ppl will run away because of it, though more than a few will be a little annoyed, just my dumb 2cents.

I also made that statement to friends + group and called one a flip flopper when he made that statement and 2 weeks later he voluntarily put his on timeline.

next time you log on to facebook, you will see the announcement at the top of your screen, they are giving us a week to fix it as we like before it goes live.

Not a big fan of it, but I would imagine that they researched this pretty damn hard before unilaterally forcing people to convert. Must be stickier if they are going through all of this.

People complain about every forced FB change ever - I think it will be fine in the long-run, especially as people amass posts and older updates are easier to find.

Seems like just one piece of a bigger picture. Facebook is constantly tinkering with every aspect of the interface, often for really no apparent reason. People hate change. The company really seems to do everything possible to alienate everyone.

No, it won't.

Timeline really didn't radically alter things IMO.

My guess is that Timeline is better aligned with advertisers' needs, or at least they think so.

Re: Facebook's (FB) forced timeline conversion, will it hurt them further??

I was under the impression that FB has been forcing the switch over the past year. I think they forced me early in the year and some people were forced last year.

I never go to my user page to see how it looks, and the feed looks pretty much the same.
