There is a big push for a lot of this lately. Signs of a market top, obviously, as companies resort to all kinds of things when they run out of normal ways to make money. Financial engineering is in full swing. The best is when companies spin off money losing entities.

It will call come crashing down soon enough. Asset prices are way out of whack to what is happening in the real world. The average guy on the street is more broke than he has ever been in 40 years.

This wasn't so much financial engineering as it was a sign of people trying to extract the last dollar out of this phony bull market in stocks. Payback is coming.

This has nothing to do with a market top. I don't think the market has topped out anyway, but even if it has this news is completely unrelated.
